The Wasp Inventory Control Standard software supports one user,
comes with a Wasp WWS550i handheld barcode scanner and a Wasp
WPL305 barcode printer, and can be used by a small retail,
shipping, contracting, or manufacturing business to track and
manage inventory. The software allows the user to define
different inventory sites, such as a warehouse, a stock room, and
a supply closet, as well as different locations within each site,
such as a bin, a shelf, or a particular pallet. Features enable
inventory to be tracked by location, serial numbers, and other
criteria for inventory management. This software is compatible
with computers that run Microsoft Windows 8 Professional, Windows
7 Professional, Windows Vista Premium, Windows XP (SP3)
Professional, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008, or
Windows Server 2003 (32- or 64-bit), have a 750 MHz or faster
processor, have at least 1 GB of system memory and 10 GB of
storage, have a 1024x768 display with at least 256 colors, and
have a DVD drive for software installation.
The Wasp WWS550I handheld barcode scanner connects wirelessly to
a , , or computer and can be used to scan and
decode linear one-dimensional (1D) barcodes. CCD (charge-coupled
device) light sensors scan barcodes from up to 12" away at a
speed of up to 230 scans per second in continuous mode. CCD
barcode scanners are typically more accurate than laser scanners
and more resistant to wear. A USB wireless adapter allows the
barcode reader to wirelessly transmit barcode data to an Android
or iOS or from up to 33 ft. away unobstructed
or a Microsoft Windows computer from up to 160 ft. away
unobstructed. The lithium-ion battery enables the barcode reader
to make up to 3,960 scans on one charge. Indicators alert the
user when the device is out of wireless range or running low on
battery power. The barcode reader weighs 5.6 oz. and measures 6.3
x 2.4 x 4.2 inches (H x L x W). (H is height, the vertical
distance from the lowest to highest point; L is length, the
horizontal distance from front to back; W is width, the
horizontal distance from left to right.) It can withstand drops
of up to 5 ft. on a concrete floor.
The Wasp WPL305 printer comes equipped with serial, parallel, and
USB ports, prints 5" per second in black at 203 dpi, and can be
used to print barcode labels or other media up to 4.25" wide.
Direct thermal printers use heat instead of ink and are typically
smaller, quieter, faster, and more energy-efficient than
dot-matrix printers. The WPL305 can print up to 5" per second at
203 dpi (dots per inch) for print clarity and contains 8 MB of
SDRAM memory for responsiveness. The 4 MB of flash memory
provides storage for graphics and data. Serial, parallel, and USB
ports allow connectivity to a computer or other devices (cables
sold separately). The printer's double-walled casing is made of
ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), which helps resist impact.
A reflective media sensor allows the printer to identify the
gaps, holes, notches, or black marks between labels to print the
labels accurately. A paper roll cover can be opened to load
media. EPL, WPL, and ZPL programming languages are standard. The
auto-detectable power adapter can accept AC power between 110 and
240 volts. The printer weighs 7 lb. and measures 7.4 x 8.39 x
12.36 inches (H x W x D). It accepts a roll of media measuring
between 0.78 and 4.4 inches wide and up to 5" in diameter with a
1" to 3" core.
The printer includes WaspLabeler barcode label design software,
which contains more than 100 predesigned barcode templates and
can be used to design, create, and print linear 1D and 2D barcode
labels for inventory tracking. The software allows the user to
choose from more than 100 predesigned barcode label templates or
design new labels. Barcode data can be typed directly into the
software interface and assigned to particular barcode labels, or
it can be pulled from an external source, such as a Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft Access, or Intuit QuickBooks file. Completed
barcode labels may be printed to a networked, Windows-compatible
printer.
Wasp Barcode Technologies manufactures barcode scanners,
printers, labels and other data capture and tracking solutions
for businesses. The company, founded in 1994, is headquartered in
Plano, TX.
