An excellent endgame book for lower rated players
Where to start. First let me say the binding on my original is dreadful, the book has literally fallen apart, but in fairness it has had much use. There are also many errors - errors in diagrams, errors in moves, this book needed much better proof reading. Put those things to one side and you have a really good book for lower rated to intermediate players. I've learnt a huge amount, the material is given in bite sized chunks and is very accessible. I like the book so much I bought a second copy to replace my 'broken' copy. The print quality isn't as good and the diagram printing is nowhere near the quality of my original, although they are clear enough to be useable. Overall, despite the issues it's a five star.

Content good, spoilt by printing quality
This is a good selection of ending games to move through and check that you can complete them, and know WHY they work as they do (i.e movement of the pieces, things like tempo etc) - it is a shame though that the printed positions are difficult to read, and in a few the board is actually the wrong one for the example in the text (it should be noted each problem does have the position of each of the pieces stated in the text, so it is still useable.)

Very poor quality printing.
Bought number of chess books as present for my son, great classics for those who learn to play chess. The quality of the print is so poor, would give you eye muscle strain after few minutes. The text is almost Illegible after some time into reading. I was reluctant to believe that Amazon prints books on demand resulting in poorly printed typography, unfortunately it had being “visibly” confirmed.Dissatisfied!

TERRIFYINGLY GOOD!!!!
I am one of those chess book adicts. I buy a book, read the 1st 2 chapters and then see another exciting book. This book is different. The way it is structured makes it easy for you to have a few lessons a day without getting bored. It steers clear from analytic and complicated positions that make you tired. Instead it has a nucleus of 200 positions that are the key concepts YOU NEED TO KNOW. I repect "The reader from England" point of view, but I think he misses the point. You take these lessons into the game with you, to use in complicated positions. You recognize the patterns... not the complicated positions of individual games. The book has been so good for my play it is terrifying..well to oponents it has been. I only hope Bruce's other books are set out the same way. Its DYNAMITE IN A BOOK..WELL DONE BRUCE!

Printed positions don’t match the answers.
I’m only on page 24 and there’s a glaring error in this book. As previous reviewer Danny Boyd stated there are mistake which is frustrating. Spoils an otherwise fantastic book.
