You can fool a cat for only so long; then you need to re-invent the next trick location. The owl does work but for a limited time against feral cats. Suggestion: triple the volume of the owl's screech and add head movement to the solar version.I have a PTSD service dog that encounters feral cats feed by our neighbors. Other than traping or killing them I need to stop their intrusion into our yard for their nature calls. if you are interested I will test at no cost to you for my time anything you create to discourage these cats. ghostrider05@msn.com

quality is very poor and the make of this is so cheap looking.. its suppose to keep the preditor birds away from my chickens well it does not do that at all. i put it up and the very next day when i returned from home i had 2 full grown roosters missing and another one that was about dead i go to camera and pull up the recording and what do you see chicken hawk flying in and attacting birds and carries them off.... the owl that should have kept the chicken hawk away was not even 15 feet away from where they came in and got my birds.. next the red eyes thats suppose to be lite up they r lite up but you walk a foot or 2 away and you cnt even tell that they are lite up at all and the sounds yeah good sounds if they were even loud enough to hear.. you litterally have to be holding the thing in order to hear it sounds. and the way your suppose to mount it its not no better either mounted it to a 2 by 4 fince post and about 4 maybe 5 days later had a good rain storm along with wind and it lasted about hour and half thur wind before wind got it and blew it around

Performs just as said, with two options for sound and light or strictly light. Also as solar powered! Only issue is that it is extremely light weighted so it falls or blows away at the gentler breeze. There are clips on the bottom to attach it to something, which is considerate. I recommend it but make sure to attach it to something sturdy and heavy (but still mobile like a dowel?) So you can move it at ease.

I HATE growing my figs and fruit only to be eaten by squirrels. zero left for me lol. This thing detects very well when it's light out. not so much when it's dark. The eyes do light up and sounds are ok. Head is fixed. The bottom has tabs to easily mount this thing anywhere a screw or nail can go. It's very cool that it's solar, so put it there and forget.

If you're looking for this to scare squirrels away because of the sound, it's not going to happen. Maybe birds, but they have to get fairly close for the sound to be triggered and I find it hard to believe, if the whole seeing an owl thing is true, that they are going to do that. Plus, if you want to mount this, you have to make sure you cut a hole in your mount so you can access the on/off switch which is located at the bottom for some odd reason. There is pretty much no easy way to mount this and be able to move it around because of that reason unless you plan on leaving it on all the time and then have to go to the trouble of unscrewing it when you need to change out the batteries. Also, which I never thought of when I bought it was, if you want to scare birds away from your garden how are the light up eyes going to help you with that? Birds aren't around at night and you can't see them light up during the day. No use for that feature as far as I'm concerned. My advice, if you can find a plain plastic owl for less go for it, because what this owl offers is pointless.

Update. My grandchildren have fun playing with this and the motion detector does work when they shoot it with their nerf guns. While not useful for it’s intended purpose it is a great target for nerf guns. The motion detector doesn’t work well and quit working after one day. The rabbits are not phased by it and with the motion detector not working it won’t even make a good Halloween decoration. The owl itself is cute but I just overpaid for a plastic owl.

I received this scarecrow owl a few days ago. It looks exactly like what I was looking for. I cannot say how well it operates as I will not deploy until Spring whencfruit appear on our trees.The coloring looks very realistic. There are 2 small stainless steel tabs for screwing owl to a post or fence.

This owl is great. Those red eye's are SCARY.....ha ha haha...... Probably scare the life out of your cat....good thing cat's have nine lives. I like the noise it makes too. I bought it for birds but if you have an area you want to keep cats out of I think this thing would work great.
