Good brightness
This is a decent value for the money. You can see the structures of the ear. The light is the appropriate brightness. It’s a good otoscope to use during med school, PA or NP school to practice ear exams. It’s good to have at home if you want to check a child’s ear or someone else’s ear before taking them to the Dr.

Feels cheap. Big dissapointment.
Extremely dissapointed. From the one hand, the price was great, so I cannot complaint much, but from the other hand - I would expect much more from product of this company. The otoscope feels cheap, the switch on-off is nothing less but a shame to the company, the light is not strong enough. Waste of money. It was intended to be a gift for my wife pediatric's practice and I feel ashamed giving such a low quality product.

Great for Mom use!
I have sent these to my daughter and daughter in law and instructed them in screening for ear infections and they both find this very useful.

3.5 STARS --> Not electric, not corded, you will need x2 AA's
You will need x2 AA batteries and eventually more disposable specula (not true to advertisement which is surprising considering it's sold from WELCH ALLYN directly).Raised too many kids without one of these. Now, uninsured and on my last baby, I bought this small otoscope to check her ears myself. Yup – I see what appears to be an ear infection (after educating myself online as to what that even looks like).I was also able to check my teen’s ear to see if he had a busted ear drum (looks positive to me).It came with FIVE clear plastic specula of the same size. (The pictured specula are black and appear to be different diameters). The little knobby that turns the device on is precarious, seems way too fragile so I hope it lasts. Time will tell.Otoscopes are $$$ so for under $100, grabbing this smaller version of the doctor’s office device is a great deal for piece of mind here at home before panicking with every ear complaint. I do wish I would’ve had one of these years ago when I started birthing humans.I wish it came with a soft case so I will have to find something to protect it while not in use.

Bright light, big enough but not bulky! Great tool! Does not come with a case! Order one.

Not bad but has a significant design flaw
This is a great otoscope for a student or for home use. I tried using this at my practice as it was very affordable compared to other models with decent visualization, however since it is not rechargeable I found myself blowing through batteries. The reason for this is that the on off switch is tensioned toward being on and is very easily switched in that direction. For a parent or student this wouldn’t be an issue but in a busy practice running out of battery due to a poor switch design isn’t acceptable. It is now my at home otoscope though and seems like it will last for some time. I’m

stops working
Lasted wonderfully for about 3 months, had some issues with the switch turning the otoscope on in my bag and running the batteries out, but I started taking the batteries out when it wasn’t in use. Unfortunately it randomly stopped working and I’m not sure there’s anything I can do to fix it, the item is also out of the return window so now I’m short $70 and need a new otoscope. Might be useful if you need an otoscope for a month, but it probably won’t last you long. Also the light was not incredibly bright to begin with.
