I our hased this to replace the alternator in my boat. The wiring and bolt holes matched perfectly. What didn't was the pulley. I'm not sure why it has such a thin pulley, but that definitely would not have worked. It was odd, since everything else matches. I ended up having to take the pulley off the old alternator and swapping it out, but that's an easy enough fix. My boat is running like a top again, so the alternator works well. It fit well, minus the pulley and was easy enough to install. For about a third of the price, I think this alternator is a good value, as long as I get enough use out of it.

Works on 96 Mercruiser 3.0LX
Perfect fit, works great. I've only run the boat a few times since install, so I can't speak to longevity, but seems just fine.

Exact replacement for 1996 Mercruiser 5.7 Mando 12449
I took a chance and bought this for my 96 Reinell. It was a direct fit and the only difference is it is rated at 65 amps instead of 55 amps. Very happy with the fit and quality
