Gave the chess set as a gift, however it did not improve my game. Set was easy to play with.

I purchased this set because I'm trying to teach myself chess and want to have a physical representation of scenarios while reading my chess for idiots book. The magnetic board and pieces make it ideal to have it on your lap while reading in my reading chair. It small size also makes it ideal for this. The price also was a plus.

This is the best small set I have, and I try almost everything. The pieces are easy to handle (especially for folks with arthritis, like myself), the magnets are flush to the bottom of the pieces (so they stand flat on the board), and the color contrasts are good. Sets where the pieces are flat, with symbols on them, are harder to handle and almost always too large for the size of the squares of the board. Only quibble is that there's no way to set the board to stay flat and open, which is a feature of one or two of my other small sets. Even so, I've found nothing superior to this set since one I bought 50 years ago. And I bought a second one.

This set is cute and works great for a quick game of chess at school. I just have to get another set for my kiddo because one hinge has broken after being used and being in backpack for 2 months.

The magnet works just fine when my son and I flip it over the pieces don’t fall off the board. I’m still trying to air it out to get the plastic smell out but it’s still there. I’m hoping that it goes away soon because I feel like throwing up every time I play chess with my son because of that really strong smell. I hope it’s not cancerous.

This is exactly what I was looking for in a study board. I can read chess books and play out the positions on this small board on the go rather than having to lug around an entire chess set. The pieces arent the most detailed but its clear which piece is which. It's about the size of my s21 ultra when folded. Very portable. If you know someone who loves the game of chess this is a great gift.
