Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional PD-KB600B

After using it for a couple of months, despite the disconnection of Bluetooth sometimes, I can no longer to do a high volume of typing by using other keyboards. Very brilliant typing experience.

Like many other comments I've read on here I too thought to myself "Are you nuts spending over $300 bucks on a small keyboard?" I was intrigued and for years had seen this HHKB here and there. I've owned all kinds of Logitech Keyboards both wireless and Bluetooth and they're all terrible. I was never quite satisfied. My favorite keyboard is the Das Keyboard 4 Professional Cherry MX Brown Mechanical Keyboard. I wanted something like that in a smaller form factor. The HHK arrived. I opened the box and was sucked in immediately. It was love at first sight. I removed it from its plastic bag, everything about this keyboard felt right, looked right and smelled right. I made a couple of dip switch adjustments and connected to my Windows 10 pc. I've been using it all day. No glitches, no repeats, no lags just pure heaven. The build quality is great, keys are just right, it's quiet, it's not heavy, and it's so perfect an amputee could use it. j/kOnce you start using this keyboard any concerns as to how much you spent on it are gone. I'm the type of person that If I don't love something 100% I'm not going to buy it let alone keep it. I bought this and now I'm keeping it.

I got mine for something like $273 from Amazon Warehouse Deals because the box was slightly dinged up. I was planning on recycling the box regardless, so the $40 discount was enough to push me over the edge and finally order one of these. It's a little loud, but not crazy, and more "clunky" sounding than the "clack" of an IBM Model M, which I imagine is intolerable for bystanders. I pack it in a carrying case and bring it to work with me, and I use it when lounging in bed or a recliner. As someone who works in the tech industry and spends essentially all day on a computer, I believe that it is indeed worth it to spend this ridiculous amount of money on a truly excellent keyboard.The dip-switches on the back allowed me to set it up perfectly for macOS on my MacBook, with the Command key exactly where I expect it and the control key in a far more convenient location. I usually rest the keyboard's feet on the front edge of the laptop and can reach over it to use the touchpad when necessary.Is there another option that isn't a stupidly expensive status symbol? Maybe. But then again, maybe not. Either way, I'd say I'm getting my money's worth out of this.

The media could not be loaded.  I've been a fan of the USB wired version for several years after having tried tons of mechanical keyboards in the past.I'm very happy with the Bluetooth version as it's very nice not to have cables going to my iMac. This feels and sounds exactly the same as the wired version with the same Topre capacitive-touch key switches, and in fact, the build seems even a bit better. The casing doesn't flex as much and it's slightly heavier. The rubber feet on the underside are also way better. On the wired version, I had to add my own to the top underside, but not with this version!The Bluetooth works very reliability and there is absolutely no perceivable lag at all when typing. I use Eneloop rechargeable AA batteries in the keyboard and they last about a month. Alkaline batteries supposedly can last 2-3 months but I prefer to be more environmentally friendly.Although a bit expensive, this is now my favorite keyboard!

Typing this review using the keyboard.I've been hesitant in terms of paying substantial amount of money to a keyboard that does not have arrow keys. Seeing them release a version with a bluetooth connection, just pushed me over the edge. So happy that it did!The switches at the back makes this keyboard wonderfully modifiable which made it awesome experience to work with for Mac OS. I have been primarily using it for web development and I did not feel any problems, and typing on this is just a wonderful experience. Topre switches so far feel great, I've been a MX Blue switch user for a while now but these feel great.At the end of the day, the keyboard itself is wonderful to work with. If you have some money to spend on a keyboard, this one is a great one. I'd not recommend this to a person who is not an professional typer though. It's a niche product.

I have experiencing constant bluetooth issues with this keyboard, and there is no sign that it is getting better.Tried it on different computers and have the same issue

Just got my keyboard a couple of hours ago and have been using it with my Macbook. Overall, very impressed as this is my first topre board.While the keyboard is mostly plastic, the thing feels really solid and has a nice weight to it. The keys themselves are what I consider a mix between Cherry MX Browns with better tactility as well as a nice "thock" sound on actuation.

The build is a little better than HHKB Pro 2, an opinion that coincided with some Youtube reviewer. Overall the keyboard is very nice. The lump behind does not bother me at all, but again, it's just me. Switching can be a little hassle, but I do not switch between devices so often, so I can live with that.

現在，hybridの墨を購入して使用している者です。BTから始まって，有線のProfessional静音モデル，はたまたhybridの日本語配列，そして現在のhybrid墨に至るHHKB遍歴の旅でした。現在のhybrid墨の接続については特に文句なしで90点。使いやすさも90点。軽さは70点と大変良いKeyboardであると愛用しています。しかし，これだけは言い残しておきたい。なぜか，肝心要のtypingの音，感覚は，hybridが出る前の狭間のモデルであった「BTモデル」が最上だった，と。感覚的な問題ですが，いまだに指が覚えています。

プライムデーでセールしていてまだ購入して３日ですが、それなりに慣れてきました。ただし、矢印がないので、単純に文章を打つだけでしたらまだしも、Excelなどで縦横無尽に移動する系の作業が必要な場合はまだまだ慣れが必要です。BTの接続については、現在の職場では問題なく使えていますが、BT3.0なので、恐らく往来の激しい場所では安定しないのかなと思います。(ただしそれも試してみてはいません。)なお、自端末はMacであり、Mac用のスイッチを入れていますがそのまま職場端末のWindows10で使用しても何も問題なく使えています。Contolキーの配置に若干違和感を覚えるので−1にしますが、それも慣れたら戻れない原因なのでしょうね……。

曰く、カウボーイにとっての馬の鞍のように、キーボードは体に馴染んだ生涯使えるインタフェース―それを体現した製品がHHKBであるなら、どんな機器にも接続できなくてはいけません。最近はスマホやタブレットが主流になってきましたから、これらでもHHKBを使えるようにするために登場したのが本製品でしょう。（EneBRICKという妥協案も提示されていましたが、コレジャナイ…って意見が多かったのでしょう）思えばHHKBは、登場時からキー配列を一切変えぬまま、PS/2→USB→Bluetoothと時代に合わせてインタフェースをアップデートしてくれているわけです。Bluetoothに関してはちょっと遅かった感がありますが。肝心の使い勝手ですが、BluetoothでつながるHHKB Pro2、それ以上でもそれ以下でもありません。若干Pro2よりもキータッチが柔らかいような？ 気がします。気のせいかもしれません。ペアリングする機器との相性もあるかもしれませんが、遅延も全く気にならず、HHKBそのものです。Bluetooth載せるだけで5000円アップかぁ…と思ってしまいますが、需給を考えると仕方がないのでしょう。生涯使えるインタフェースとしてどうかというと、作りこみが今一歩足りない感があります。まず、複数機器とのペアリングは可能ですが、「登録した順の優先度で接続する」という仕様のため、PCでもタブレットでもスマホでも使いたい、という場合は使わない機器のBTを切る羽目になったりと超めんどくさいです。これ、馬の鞍としてどうなのよ？？さらに、背面にはUSB micro-B端子がついていて、いざというときにはUSB接続でもいける？ と思いきや、こちらはただの給電用。BluetoothだとBIOS操作とかできないので、本当にいざという時には役に立てません。結局USBのPro2も手放せないのでした…

1月くらい使用しての感想。矢印キー（カーソル移動キー）がFnキーとの組み合わせであるため、Excelなどでガンガン使うのに最初、戸惑った。今では少し慣れたが、押し間違いがちょこちょこ生じてしまっているのが現状。（専用キーには勝てない）キーの側面に印字があるので、迷ったらそれを見ればいいのだけれど、ブラインドタッチまでは到達できていない。iOSとMacにて使用しているが、日本語変換の切り替えが、iOSは「control+space」、Macでは「shift+control+J」であるなど、ここでも専用キーがないことで慣れるまである程度時間がかかった。（今でもしばらく使ってないと、どうやって切り替えるんだったっけ？とネットで調べ直すことが多い）できれば、覚える量を減らすような、そんな工夫のある仕様にしてもらえるとうれしい。（言うのは簡単だけど、実際に開発するのは大変かもしれませんが）また、音も気になる。東プレのReal forceの静音キーボードに慣れてしまっていることもあると思うが、それにしてもMacのキーボードと比べても大き過ぎると感じる。ちょっとこれでは、カフェで使う気にならない。（うるさくて目立ち過ぎるし、周りの人の落ち着いた空間を壊してしまうように思う）type-Sモデルの登場を期待している。できれば同じ価格で出して、現状モデルは廃止にしてもらいたい。というのも、もともとprofessionalのBT自体、安くない価格。BTモデルを出すにあたり、タブレットなどポータブルでの使用が念頭にあるなら、カフェで使いたいと思えない仕様というのはどうなのか。カフェで使う人が増えれば、HHKBの認知度も上がることになるのでは。口コミでユーザも増えるのでは？例えば友人が隣で見ていて「なんだこれ、すげーキータッチが気持ちよくて、iPad Proでも全然、打てるじゃん！」みたいな感じで驚いたりすると、その周りの人も思わず見てしまい、中には欲しくなる人もいるのではないか。そのためにBTモデルを全て同じ価格でtype-S仕様として、そのコスト増加を負担したとしても、不合理ではないと思うのだが。。。「外で使えてHappy」なキーボードであってほしい。そういう価値を提供してくれると、お金を出して良かったなとさらに思えるようになると思う。

ワイヤレスは長いこと待ち望んでいましたのでためらいなく購入しました。買うにあたっての懸念は電源の使い勝手です。案の定、使うたびに電源スイッチを２秒の長押しをするのはとても面倒です。オートパワーオフをキャンセルして電源入れっぱなしに設定すると電池はなんと新品エネループでも10日持ちません、そこで給電ドッグを製作しました。私のパソコン使用時間は1日数回トータルで60分に満たないと思います。ほとんどの未使用時間中は給電ドックで給電してパソコン使用時のみ電池駆動して大幅に電池の持ちを伸ばそうという目論見です。電源はusb給電が電池より優先されるのでドックに接続すればusb、はずせば電池駆動と切り替えは自動的に行われます。写真1　ベニヤ板の切り貼りで作っています。写真2　コネクタはHKW microUSB マグネットケーブルを利用しました。大変優れモノです。手前に転がっている小さなアダプタを本体に接続します。　　　　受けのコネクタは前後に約5ｍｍ　上下左右にそれぞれ1ｍｍ弱、自由に動くようにするのに知恵を絞りました。写真3　電池ボックス部の凹凸をガイドに利用できるようベニヤ板の形を加工しています。写真4　マグネットケーブルが優秀なので確実に正しく吸い付いてくれます。正しく接続されると青いLEDが点灯します。写真5　ワイヤレスになって重くなったのも残念な点、大した重さではないですが、コンパクトさが災いして、手掛かりがないくて持ちにくい。　　　　本体の前後にスエードの革を貼って滑り止めにするとかなり持ちやすくなりました。貼った革に小さな段差をつけています。写真6　ドッグはこんな風に収まりました。キーボードは普段はモニターの上で使用時、手前の白い台におろして使います。　　　　ドッグ着脱はスムーズで、キーボードをそこに置くだけで接続できているようです。まだ作ったばかりなので電池の持ちがどれくらい長くなったか確認できていませんが、使用感は快適で、電源の存在を意識することなく使えるようになりました。これだけ電池を大食いするキーボードですから、ドッグはメーカーがオプションで用意するべきものですね。余談、キートップは白に取り換えています。
