Lutema BP96-00224J-P Samsung DLP/LCD Projection TV Lamp (Premium)

In March 2017 went purchased and installed this replacement bulb. We like it BUT make 110% sure it fits your particular Samsung DLP set. We installed this BP96-00224J-P (NOTE the "J"-"P") ( Lutema BP96-00224J-P Samsung DLP/LCD Projection TV Lamp (Premium) ) into our 2003/2004 Samsung HLN567W and worked great for several weeks. The picture was brighter and crisper. Then one day the TV screen went dark and a few seconds later the power shut off. We've been thought this before with this set, and thinking it can't be the bulb we began to change out the internal fans, (but not the color-wheel… yet) and still the TV would turn on, then shut down a minute or so later. We read others postings stating it could be a bad bulb, so we order a different, less expensive bulb - Samsung BP96-00224C (NOTE the “C”) (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FA1171K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) ; installed it today May 29, 2017 - so far so good in that the TV is staying on, BUT the picture is not as bright or sharp.The configuration of the “C” bulb is not a sealed bulb like the “J”-“P” bulb is. The “J”-“P” bulb is 100% sealed and the “C” bulb has an opening of about 1” inch on the front edge allowing for air flow/heat escape. This (I think) is the reason why the “J”-“P” bulb trips the heat sensor for the fan cannot cool the bulb fast enough, where the exact opposite is true for the “C” bulb.I’ll be posting this same text on the “C” bulb side and an update in the next few weeks or months. We have purchased multiple lamps for our Samsung TV. This one lasted the shortest amount of time. Less than 6 mos. We usually get at least a year.

This lamp gradually degraded to almost a black screen within about 1 yr. And we hardly ever watch TV. I've had the TV about 13 years and have had 3 bulbs in it. The previous bulbs lasted about 4 year each and then busted/cracked usually, but i never recall one fading this fast.

I was concerned since this bulb's housing is all plastic but well still works great and no smell for burning plastic yet.

Easy to install and worked like a charm.

Burned out in only 5 months of use. Garbage. Save money buying this? NO - a total waste of money. Two prior OEM bulbs lasted YEARS, not months. Buy the real deal and avoid the frustration.
