Black Cold Air Filter Intake Systems with Heat Shield 2009-2018 Compatible With Ram 1500 5.7L V8

This CAI kit was very easy to put together, took me about 1.5 hours, I took my time it’s cold in Wi.. It is a very solid CAI, install was a breeze. Very nice sound, better throttle response not sure about hp gain and so far 2mpg more. And it looks awesome under the hood. That is just with this intake install.I now have an unlocked CPU with a tune in it, hp is up for sure now I am thinking 20+, it has way better throttle response. MPG is up 4.5 with regular driving. The way it looks under the hood in place of the original intake and the sound of the new intake make it well worth it for the price.

As almost all other reviews here state, the instructions aren't very clear however I found a fantastic Youtube step-by-step video that made the whole process super easy. Search for the channel "Our Garage Auto Detail".The sound and performance are definite improvements that I noticed straight away after installing this cold air intake, and I'm yet to see the MPG improvements, however I am testing it and will report back on this review.One note, the silicone hose that goes from breather valve does not fit. I went to Autozone and got a few different sizes of replacement silicone hose and found one that fits perfectly (funnily enough the Autozone inside diameter was supposedly 5/8" which is what the included silicone hose is, so not sure how that works), but my suggestion would be to get a foot of replacement hose. I spent a long time trying to fit in the included silicone hose, even cutting a small nick to open up the end but the replacement hose was much, much easier.Everything else fits as supplied and overall, once everything was put together, the install only took about 30 minutes.

This system was pretty easy to install on my 2016 Ram 1500. The box took longer to put together than the actual install did. (Just because the instructions suck) Gives my truck a more throaty sound, like a gargle almost when accelerating. I DID NOT have to cut the hose or the OEM pipe, it all fits, just have to play with it a bit. Gas mileage has gone up a little, probably picked up an extra .8 to 1.5 mpg depending on how and where you drive. I tried it with cover on and off of the filter, no real difference for me. Looks better off IMO. Only negative I have is that minor rattle you hear from the box when you hit a bump. It’s totally secured but shakes a bit. Overall, solid product especially for the price.

A decent upgrade for your truck especially for the price. Cant say much for gas mileage at the moment, it won’t turn your hemi into a Prius but I definitely don’t think it hurts. Sound is the best so far, but you have to hammer down to notice it. Installation was a bit of a pain but there are a bunch of videos on YouTube to guide you through. Took me about an hour to install. If I traded my truck in I would buy another for the new one.

As far as the kit goes, it's pretty solid and equal to other competitors products, for about half the cost. Over all, it's good. If youre curious about getting one, below is more descriptive.There IS infact cutting and fabrication required. You will need to cut the vacuum tube of your vehicle to make this work. There is a way around it using a PVC elbow. Even if youre mechanically inclined, Google/YouTube videos to install. The instructions are IKEA-ish. If you're not mechanically inclined, phone a friend. It will add quite a bit more volume to your intake vacuum when driving. For my truck, Dodge is notorious for slow throttle response and this truly eliminated that. MPG, it did positively effect what my dash gauge usually shows. And my overall average did infact increase by 1.1.

Overall I give the intake a five star rating. There are some steps in the instructions that can be difficult to understand. Mostly the instructions for putting the box together. It just seemed very understandable but yet the instructions in the pictures were hard to make sense of given the black and white ink used for the instructions. I took my time and it took me a little over an hour just to put box together. The intake itself was a great addition to my Dodge. You can definitely tell the difference in power and airflow. I installed the Pedal Commander when I get the new intake filter so between the two my truck is a lot more power taking off from a stop.

Well Made, easy install, priced right Great Value. I wanted to update my review. Truck has Magnaflow cat back system. and I initially installed K&N filter on stock system. I did not notice any discernable increase in performance. My best MPG was 19 MPG on open highway from Florida to Texas.. Long stretch !After installing this cold air system and removing the K&N filter from the stock airbox. I closely monitored overall performance. Here are some of my outcomes. Over all performance has noticeably increased. Now keep in mind this is subjective . its my opinion. But MPG has noticeably increased . around town I am getting 19 MPG or so. On the highway 23 plus. When I say plus 23.8 MPG. I am very pleased with this set up and completely surprised.Also this company's customer is top notch. Great pricing. Great Service.

I am satisfied with the product in terms of the functionality and the aggressive appearance it gave to the engine of my Ram. The "but" I give you is that it is a bit complicated to assemble and the instructions that come are unclear. I finished after 1 hour 45min only after I only understand how to put it together without instructions.
