Q: As an everyday watch, how does this compare to something like the forerunner 245?

Both are smart, multi sport watches. This means I can receive my calls, texts, smart notifications, as well as log my runs, bike rides and more activities. Differences - The forerunner 245 is designed with running as priority 1, and the G1 with diving as priority 1. There are no dive modes on FR 245. FR 245 will be lighter because of this, and additionally the FR 245 has a color screen. On the G1 you get a monochrome screen..but much better batter life(4 months on solar). Select or add your device to the Garmin Express program. Select Tools & Content. Select Utilities. Select Language Files under Optional Updates. Available languages that are compatible with your Garmin will be listed here. Select Install Now. Wait for the sync to complete. The selected languages are now available on your device.
