DIY Natural Soapmaking & More! was a really useful book for me to stumble upon. As someone who appreciates the self-sustainability of doing things yourself, I found myself really appreciating Molly Barrett's work. With more than 20 recipes and an introductory chapter on the history of soap, this book was both fascinating and extremely helpful. There's information on making soap in various different forms, from bar soaps to liquid soaps, bath gels, shampoos, even baby soap! Additionally, you can learn how to make your own detergent. In the long run, I feel as though this is a great way to save money by making your own cleansers. You also learn how to add color and scents to your soaps, safely.Its useful in that "teach a man to fish" rather than just giving (or selling) fish to people in need kind of way.Not only does Barret cover the history and basics to making soap, but also the materials needed, the different forms of soap making, and even the science behind it! I really admired the work put into this book and can tell that the author was knowledgable in all the topics covered. There is a plethora of tips, instructions, references and excellent teaching moments within the pages of this book. If you are into do-it-yourself crafts, I highly recommend investing in this book.Barrett went as far as to add a metric conversion chart at the end of the book - which is such a great idea and very much appreciated.

About every 6th page, the page falls out. Great information in the book itself but really need to focus on the binding per the production team. It would be amazing if I wasn’t fighting pages falling out

The Author of this book did a fantastic job!!!! Hands down! I cannot stop praising the author's work. A fantastic job at literally teaching the readers step by step approach as to how to make different types of soaps at home - baby soap, antibacterial soaps, shampoos, detergent soaps, facial soaps, commercial soaps or simple soaps for the household! Plus more.I appreciate how the ingredients for the soaps were simply, easy-step-by-step! You cannot go wrong if you follow the author's instructions.I am very surprised that the plethora of soaps were so endless and the author does an excellent job of proving the many options plus substance analysis. The pictures in the book also add a bit of motivation for your soap making journey.I love the fact that the knowledge was heavy laden and was necessary.I will definitely give soap making a try because of this awesome book! Please get a copy as well, you'll be glad you did!

Enjoying all the new ways to make different types of soaps

I was drawn to this book when I saw diy for laundry detergent, if I’m being honest. My skin is so sensitive and I have had some bad experiences with traditional detergents. I love how making your own soaps and detergent allows you to save money, the environment and be more gentle to your body. We live in a world where so much is disposable and isn’t great for you, this book is just a teaching experience in how to remove that aspect and make your lifestyle a healthier one. My sister and I have now made our own eucalyptus soap and love the smell and how it feels.

Ms. Barrett needs an editor for content, organization, and presentation.Making soap involves dangerous chemicals. The book was poorly organized and written, with little to no details or instruction--which was my purpose for buying the book.An example from page 180, "There have always been problems with the way people color soaps. I do not know why most tend to get the color wrong." And it goes on from there. Not very useful.I have made some soap and want to add color and fragrance and make a wider array of products. There are a few scratch recipes, but I found that these lacked appropriate detail and safety information, which led me to discount most of what the book contains.

Whoever love to make DYI staffs, should try this book of making soap. It has valuable information, suggestions, and procedure of making various soaps at home. It is totally worthy checking this book out. I just wish it has enough pictures with each formula.
