Worked for me the first time as intended at small fraction of the asking price for the original adapter, but without the usb c passthrough.

You can still buy the original insta360 mic adapter
I bought two of these and both didn't work. I found a reddit post stating to email the insta360 service center to purchase the proper mic adapter. They are still selling them and I have two on the way. This item is just junk.

The one I have been looking for
I have purchased no less than 5 USB-C to mic adapters to find one that works with my Insta360 One-R One Inch edition camera. The official adapter is out of stock and shows no signs of coming back in stock. Not being able to use a generic USB-C to mic adapter on a 500+ dollar camera is a disgrace and disservice to Insta360's customers.No less, this adapter performs flawlessly. Be sure to purchase a TRRS to TRS cable to connect an external microphone to your camera.Update:After Norberto Perez's negative review, I purchased a second adapter and confirmed that it worked. Perhaps Norberto received a faulty adapter or is not running the latest camera firmware from Insta360.

Works but requires TRRS cable not TRS cable
Well, after a long spell of no third party solutions after the OEM adapter went out of stock, I saw this Cubilux on Amazon. Cheap, too. I had low expectations. A lot of attempts by others with various brands had not yielded a working substitute for the OEM adapter. However, this adapter works on my One R. It requires a TRRS smartphone cable, NOT the TRS cable used by the OEM adapter. I've done 1 test video with it and it sounded fine with my Sennheiser MKE 200 external mic.

The item does not work as intended.
The item purchased does not work as intended. It specifically says that it works solely for the Insta 360 One R edition, but it doesn't. I've tried different methods after the initial method on instructions and still no audio.

Does not work
Do not waste your time and money. DOES NOT WORKi even ordered a replacement, thinking maybe faulty item, but both did not work. No sound.

Works. Don't listen to negative reviews.
Not sure what the issue was, but for me, it works just fine with both my new Rode VideoMicro and my trusty lavalier wireless mic, testing both with before/after vids. Not sure what else to say, other than to echo what other positive reviews have said about this adapter.
