ESP32-WROOM-32U and ESP32-WROOM-32D are general-purpose Wi-Fi+BT+BLE MCU modules, which are powerful and versatile. Can be used for low-power sensor networks and demanding tasks such as speech encoding, audio streaming, and MP3 decoding. Unlike ESP32-WROOM-32D, ESP32-WROOM-32U integrates a U.FL socket.

The core of the ESP32-WROOM-32D and ESP32-WROOM-32U modules is the ESP32-D0WD chip, which belongs to the ESP32 series and is scalable and adaptive. Both CPU cores can be controlled independently. The clock frequency can be adjusted from 80 MHz to 240 MHz. Users can cut power to the CPU and use a low-power co-processor to constantly monitor peripheral state changes or whether certain analog quantities exceed thresholds. ESP32 also integrates rich peripherals, including a capacitive touch sensor, Hall sensor, SD card interface, Ethernet interface, high-speed SDIO/SPI, UART, I2S, and I2C, etc.

The ESP32-WROOM-32D module integrates traditional Bluetooth, Bluetooth low energy, and Wi-Fi, and has a wide range of uses: Wi-Fi supports a wide range of communication connections and also supports direct connection to the Internet through a router; while Bluetooth allows users to Connect a mobile phone or broadcast a BLE Beacon for signal detection. The sleep current of the ESP32 chip is less than 5 µA, making it suitable for battery-powered wearable electronics. The module supports data transfer rates up to 150 Mbps and antenna output power up to 20 dBm for maximum range wireless communication. The operating system of the ESP32 is freeRTOS with LwIP and also has built-in TLS 1.2 with hardware acceleration.
