Excellent blower, not so good as vacuum
Brilliantly built as you would expect from Makita. It’s a great leaf blower, I bought the vacuum kit which is a pain in the *beep to fit and once fitted, it’s mediocre at best sucking up leaves. It blocks quite easily but in fairness I was using it when it was wet and muddy so not the right conditions. Beginners mistake but it blocked it. Would recommend as blower only

I thought it might not really do much good on wet leaves
When I unpacked this blower it had been wet and foggy for three days. I thought it might not really do much good on wet leaves, wet muddy lawn etc. I was amazed at the power, lightness and effectiveness. Those wet leaves really cleared well. This is a seriously professional tool and it feels great to use. People have mentioned that the air intake can try to suck your trousers in but the guard on it is well away from any blades. It isn't noisy and it runs on normal 4* petrol. I think it is excellent.

Extremely disappointed
I have many makita products and all seem to be excellently thought out and quality items. I purchased this mainly as a vacuum but I’ve been extremely disappointed with it.1. it’s an absolutely nightmare to convert the item from a vacuum to blower. It involves unscrewing things and assembling different tubes etc. just way too much of a faff.2. when using as a vacuum, it’s so difficult to hold, you end up holding the underside but then get burned by the exhaust.3. it’s heavy.4. the bag has probably the worst strap ever on a piece of equipment at this price point.5. It’s really not powerful enough to pick up wet leaves. Our worx £70 electric unit does this without an issue. All in all this unit really isn’t great. I’ve returned the product as unfit for use.

The is easy to start and use
Previous reviews are very accurate. The is easy to start and use. Not that heavy or awkward to hold although as a left hanaded person it is a bit more awkward but not a problem.

Easy Starting and less noisy. Glad I bought it
The blower is great. A lot better than my other purchase a 2 stroke 9 yrs ago. Converting to vac bit fiddly but not a problem. Vac is good. Plus the starting compared to my old 2 stroke is easy. A lot less noisy. Don't think that I will another 2 stroke.

Think before you buy !
Think very carefully before you buy this. Once you've changed it into a vacuum it is a real faff to change it back to a blower !It is one or the other NOT both, unless you enjoy swapping tubes & unscrewing things. It is a fairly decent weight, but afterhalf an hour it weighs a ton. The zip on the bag keeps getting caught & be very careful about what you suck up.If there is a stone amongst your leaves, not only does it make a helluva noise it could smash the impellor.
