MerrellMen's Moab 3 Waterproof Hiking Shoe

Very comfortable & functional
I purchased these ahead of a weeklong trip to Switzerland/France. The forecast showed rain each day (accurate), but I wasn't going to let that stop us from exploring the sights. These shoes worked out perfectly - they were comfortable enough for multi-mile walking days, and kept my feet dry the whole time. I have wide feet, and they fit great. Also have flat feed, and they worked great with my orthotics (I have worn them since with the included insoles, and have not had any issues with arch support for moderate usage. They are stylish enough that I could wear them for all activities (though you'd probably want something else for a really fancy outing).

Very Good Boot
The Merrell J035849 Moab 3 Waterproof in Boulder, Size 9M, is a versatile, well-rounded hiking boot that lives up to its reputation. It’s an excellent choice for casual hikers, weekend adventurers, or anyone needing a dependable all-purpose boot for trails with moderate to heavy obstacles. While it’s not the lightest or most specialized option, its blend of comfort, waterproofing, and traction at a reasonable price makes it a standout. If you’re a Size 9M with average feet and want a boot that’s ready to hit the trail without fuss, this is a strong contender. Just be mindful of the break-in period if you find it stiff at first, and consider your needs if you hike in consistently muddy or extreme conditions where lighter or more aggressive boots might edge it out. I give it a 4.5 out of 5.

Moab 3's: State of the art!
There's a reason this is the Number One hiker. They are super comfortable yet supportive, light, and have great grip. I'm a life long avid hiker, and swear by Merrill's, the nearest typical competitor are the Keen's which are heavier, clunkier, and frankly rather precious these days with the message printing on the insoles and the overall crunchy granola attitude of the company. Just give us a sold, well made boot at a reasonable price..wait, Merrill does that. Highly recommended, get the waterproof version for added protection .

Excellent Product
I’ve had these shoes for a while now and most definitely put them thru their paces. They are as comfortable and supporting as the day I started wearing them. The size I purchased is 12, and they fit exactly as I expected they should. The color is grey and understated, which is what I prefer in a daily shoes. They have excellent slip resistance and the waterproof is working well. Shoe is a definite buy again for me 2hen I want another pair.

My favorite low-top hiking shoes
I’m a big Merrell Moab fan. I also have another pair of these (not waterproof) for hot and dry hiking conditions, and a pair of high tops for backpacking and especially rough terrain. They have terrific tread (but since they also have a thin insole, that makes for a hard sole, so I find them a bit uncomfortable for extensive walking on pavement or surfaced trails, and use well-padded running shoes for those surfaces). But for dirt, sand, slickrock, and forest trails, they are fantastic. And extremely durable—these shoes definitely won’t fall apart on you. I’ve had my high tops for six years now and logged hundreds of miles in them. I particularly like the fact that Merrells are available in wide sizes that comfortably fit my wide feet. In short, I highly recommend them! (And my usual hiking buddy bought a pair on my recommendation, and he loves them as much as I do!)Update: In response to a customer question about the waterproofing, I called Merrell’s customer service line and they said it is NOT Gore-tex (their only Gore-tex waterproofed shoes are the ones that say Gore-tex, and have the Gore-tex lining sewn into them). The shoes that say Waterproof have a “treatment” that has to be renewed every 3-6 months with Merrell’s waterproofing spray or a similar product.
