Perfect for the Go obsessed intrepid traveler! The stones are glass, size 22 (0.28 inches or 7 mm thick) and are 0.8 inches (21 mm) in diameter. The 19 x 19 laminated MDF folding board measures in at 15.8 x 15.7 x 0.6 inches (40.1 x 39.9 x 1.4 cm). The board folds in half smoothly for added portability and convenience. The hinges are brass and the two halves of the board are flush, both when the board is folded and when it's unfolded. The wood grain laminate makes this board much nicer to play on than cheaper folding boards, where (unlike this board) the MDF is often exposed and is easily stained. Each set contains 160 stones of each color (black and white). It's very rare for a game of Go be longer than 300 moves, so usually fewer than 150 stones of each color are needed to play. Although typically called 'glass stones', quality stones like these would be better described as ceramic stones. These stones are much stronger and more resilient than you'd usually expect from glass, and won't crack or chip easily. A word of caution about folding Go boards in general. They're very convenient, but you should always remember to put some sort of cloth down before placing them on a wooden table. This is because the hinges on practically all folding boards can easily scratch the table if someone slides the board to move it. It's a good idea to get a tablecloth and always keep it with your board, so that you don't forget this.
