TotalBoat gelcoat creates an extremely smooth, high gloss finish on fiber-reinforced composite. This high quality gel coat contains the highest grade isophthalic NPG polyester resin and is more durable than standard orthopthalate resins. Isophthalate NPG resin is also preferred for superior strength, flexibility, water resistance, weather and chemical resistance and is used in many boat building, repairing, and repairing.

- In general, 2% methyl ethyl ketone peroxide catalyst is the best amount for most working conditions, but the amount of catalyst can be adjusted according to the temperature. Add up to 3% of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide in cold conditions. If the temperature is hot or working for a long time, add 1% methyl ethyl ketone peroxide 8-12 minutes operating time at 77° Fahrenheit. Cured gelcoat can be buffed by removing wax or wet polishing to create an attractive high gloss protective finish.

Unwaxed gelcoat is generally used for the first layer of layup, but if you want to create a non-stick treatment, mix 20 drops of paraffin wax additive in 1 ounce of non-waxed gelcoat (16oz Unwaxed Gelcoat = 1/4oz Wax Additive, 32oz Gel Coat without Wax = 1/2-1oz Wax Additive, 1 Gallon of Gelcoat without Wax = 2-4oz Wax Additive)

TotalBoat gelcoat can also be adjusted to your desired color. Add 10% polyester resin or gelcoat colorant (12% yellow, red, purple, pale green and orange). White gelcoat can be color adjusted using up to 1% gelcoat colorant. The coloring should be mixed well in gelcoat before adding methyl ethyl ketone peroxide catalyst
