The quality of the set is very, very good. The steel pieces are relatively heavy, and the finished projects are VERY solid. I totally disagree with the few naysayers regarding the quality of this set; it is VERY well made.The documentation for the projects is also very clear. My nephew and I built the dune buggy project together over the course of a couple of days, and the schematics laid out exactly what pieces you needed, where they went, and in what order to assemble them. There is no text, but you don't need any because of the clarity of the schematics. He played with his finished dune buggy and made his own modifications to it throughout his spring break this year.If you're giving this as a gift to a younger child, you should consider that in some cases it really helps to have two sets of hands, but that of course is part of the fun . . building something together. There are a lot of pieces, some of them small, but the carrying case opens like a tool box and has plenty of little containers to hold the many different parts.Final note: I'm 53, and I'm seriously thinking about buying one of these sets for myself! The carrying case is sturdy and has compartments so you can keep all of your parts in one place, but still separated by type. There are instructions for building lots of cool creations, and you can find even more ideas by going online. There is a motor included as well that adds a new dimension to building toys. Erector Sets are a fun toy from my childhood and my husbands childhood, and it's really great to see our son enjoying one. I just added things to a chassis I already had, and made it my own. If you're probably thinking of doing the same thing, definitely worth it. It's high quality parts and steel, they don't bend too easily. You can literally make anything out of them since each piece has holes all throughout them, making it easy to bolt things anywhere.Good set, the case itself is organized on the inside instead of other toys you buy these days where you buy them, and they're just bags of things all together. The case is the storage, so you won't need to purchase additional storage or worry about losing things.
