Very cool Cookbook
The Palm Restaurant Cook Book is pretty cool! Used Book arrived in excellent condition. Thank You!Lots of good recipes and great nostalgia. Very happy with purchase. (If you're lucky enough to find any new/vintage Palm Restaurant cookware, go for it, good quality!)

Definitional Steak House Food
The Palm's steak prep method is one that I have seen (as a waiter and as an observant patron and foody) used by several restaurants serving memorable steaks. The book teaches the Palm's prep method and offers critical timing and temperature levels to get things right. The prep method delivers steaks with a remarkable appearance for an outside finish, and beautifully contrasting interior (depending on how well or rare you like your steaks). It also delivers steaks with remarkable flavor, without getting into brining, day-ahead salting, marinades, or steak rubs. (You may want to employ the Palm's cooking method, but experiment on your own with those treatments as supplements after trying the Palm's approach to things). The method also results in an appealing "chew." It facilitates preparation where a number of steaks with different levels of doneness are desired. (Nice when one person likes rare; someone else medium well). The steak prep techniques are worth the price of the book, and probably will change the way you think about cooking steaks in the future. The book also offers definitional parameters for other dishes. The preparation and recipes for the mushrooms, and for the creamed spinach, deliver up the classical steak house results you would expect sitting in the restaurant. They tasted "right." An unexpected plus: the temperatures and timing for cooking, resting, and finishing various recipes worked unusually well for preparing and serving different dishes together. It seemed that the compatibility of the dishes for restaurant service translated into a more relaxed table delivery at home. This book is educational, delivers delicious food, might be considered an essential "reference" work, and is in the "must have" category.

Who would have cooked a steak this way?
So, I have very happy memories of the Palm, mostly the one in DC, growing up. The ultimate special occasion food.So I was nervous looking at the cookbook. Was it a case of, Kids, Don't Try This At Home?The reality couldn't have been more different. This is the Anti-French-Laundry cookbook, where everything comes together quickly and easily, and you hit your head sqarely for not having thought of it yourself.The big insight for me was a very odd yet extremely effective way of cooking steaks. I've cooked lots of fine steaks, but the way they suggest worked perfectly. And it was, you know, different, but great for entertaining. And it tasted wonderful.I *think* this would be a good cookbook even if you haven't had a great time at the Palm, but if you have, it's great. Five stars.

I can pretend I am fancy
I have never ate here but I have the set of dishes :) I love to cook but also love to enjoy fancy meals . I can't wait to have GNO and make nice dinner.I did make the ranch dressing and it was way too runny. I hope this is just a fluke of all the other recipes .

The Palm Restaurant Cookbook
This is more than a cookbook. From the moment I open the cover I couldn't put it down until I read every recipe and story. The photos and stories throughout the book were fascinating. It reflects on the history of this great restaurant as well as the family who created it and the people who frequented the Palm.Every recipe in this wonderful book, from the Cocktails to the Appetizers, such as Calamari Fritti, to the mouthwatering Entrees, Veal Malfata, right through to the delectable desserts. I want to make and savor them all with my family and friends!!!

Purchased this for an xmas gift. Recipient loved it. Book has very interesting historic facts regarding the restaurant and famous people who have eaten there. There are also many hints on how the food is prepared as well as how the home cook can improve the taste of common foods. The quality of the paper/binder/cover/ink were all high level. The price was also quite a bit lower than I had seen in several other places. I would buy this again for a gift or for myself.

This might be the coolest cookbook ever!
The stories, history of The Palm and the insight into the makings of my favorite restaurant in the world, makes this cookbook a "must have" for any Palm fan! Having the recipes for so many legendary dishes is also a favorite reason to treasure this cookbook.
