If I had to give one word to describe this ebook on the Ant Family, it would be AMAZING! The information given is nicely done, with small paragraphs in easy to understand and read wording. Great information about ants and colonies. Good source of information gathering, and well written. The pictures are high quality and simply amazing!! Great detail and each picture fits perfectly with each paragraph of information. These are actual photographs, well done with close ups of ants and ants doing what ants do. Beautifully done, even on my cell phone, these pictures come to life and demand attention. Overall, This is a great ebook on ants and would be perfect for all ages to read. I highly recommend this ebook to anyone. I showed this to my 11 yr old daughter and she loved it! Great job!! Review: A very well-though out, beautifully designed education book for kids about ants. I recommend it! - Simple book for kids that covers some facts about ants. It is VERY well put together, content-wise. The photographs and illustrations and vivid and beautiful, and my kids really liked them a lot. The facts are very well presented and easy to follow. I'm not an expert, but I'm not sure this is at a "third-grade" level though. I think maybe first or second. My kids were reading much more complex books in third grade than this. Amazing pictures educational!
My family and I recently got an ant habitat ecosystem. We were doing unit lessons and stumbled on this little book. It went along perfectly with our study! Pros: 1.Amazing photography job! No joke the details are magnificent! I included a screenshot of one of the pages! 2. Engaging for my children 2-9years, the text was short to keep their attention and paired with the imagery it was simple and fascinating 3. Excellent fun facts! Who knew there were over 20,000 species of ants and they coexist on nearly all terrains on earth?! 4. From the prior cons, it creates great dialogue for curious minds. My kids created questions and hypotheses over how and why. 5. Coupled with the ant habitat my children were able to hear, see and do their learning. We were able to compare our ants in our habitat to the ants in the book and make comparisons and similarities. Cons: Wish it were longer!! Even if it were more photgraphs! Seriously the images are absolutely gorgeous! (Who says that about bugs? Haha) Tips: if used in a classroom or learning environment it's great to have the kids reenact the fun facts. Let them create playdoh ants. Have them practice seeing if they are as strong as ants. Create tunnels out of blankets or tents to pretend you are creating a colony of your very own! Discuss the body parts and the senses. Create antennae headbands with Velcro on the ends and pretend to communicate or pass objects to one another for problem solving skills. Go outside and see what kinds of ants you can spot! Be careful real ants can bite unlike this book that you can look at over and over. I did get to review this at a discount in exchange for my honest review
