When examined under a magnifier, the finish quality appears to be good, but not great. Buying a bent axle was more economical than buying an axle bender. But if I had to bend several axles, I feel I could do a better job by polishing and bending my own axles.

My son never placed in his age group in the previous 5 years of Pinewood Derby. Not only did he win his age group, this year he won the whole thing against 40 other kids. The notches were great to align them with ease. This was used for the front wheel to 'rail ride'. I only used 1, as the other wheel used a standard axle and the notch in the wood to allow for the wheel to ride up as to not contact the surface. So only 3 wheels contacted the racing track.

Everything about this was perfect save for one feature. The screw head looks like it has a deep cut in the image, but mine did not. Also, the cut is a little wide, so finding a screw driver that would easily turn this was a chore. Other than that, all the important parts (polish, angle, durability, etc.) Of this product were top notch.Also, my kid took first overall in a multi-pack competition of over 60 kids.

We won, what else do you need to know? It wasn’t close, how about that? We combined several “tricks” (race-legal scientific enhancements to minimize friction and maximize potential energy). It was just a lot less stressful for Dad this year not having to meticulously grind away at it. The kiddo always helps, but you know how it goes with 10-year-olds and attention spans. This year I got wise. Time is money (and vice-versa). Smart, not hard.

We won!!!!! Make sure you align correctly. Our car drifted over one inch for four feet of travel.

We like all of pinewoods parts We started using them last year and set world records in our districts and other regions to so of course this year we are using their parts again they are very fine thought out quality parts without cheating good stuff Jacob Brown and Jeff Brown pinewood Derby parts forever for us

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner... we did some 7 or 8 different things and came in third with less than a .o8 difference in speed. It was our fault as the paint on the car wasn't smooth. The weights should have been inside, not on the surface.
