Got this book for eight year old granddaughter who was first year 4H. Was a great learning tool for her.

Everything you wanted to know about pigs.

This book met all of our requirements and was very helpful for our daughter.This book also gave very clear information.

It did not tell me anything new

As someone who didn't know anything about pig raising before reading this book, the author has provided a painstakingly comprehensive primer that's easy to understand yet concise and to the point. While like many other books in this series that have the usual coverage of breeds, housing, feed, and breeding chapters it does contain a unique chapter on butchering and marketing that I found invaluable. This book contains many photographs, diagrams, and other visual aides that allow for a more comprehensive understanding and increase this text's reference value, especially when looking at particular breeds that are described within.This book will easily allow you to gauge your interest in the pursuit of pig raising while allowing you to begin the planning stages of starting your own operation. Despite how useful this book is this I believe that additional research and training is highly recommended.
