Great purchases. Love these tables. Protects plants from critters.
I live on an acre, surrounding by woods and a few homes. I bought 2 tables and use them behind my holly bush landscaping in the front of my house. This row of landscaping protects the plants from deer, and the height of the tables from the bunnies. I spent a lot of money on the landscaping, and found out I was feeding all the deer around me, as well as bunnies and other critters. I placed the tables behind the bushes (on the rock bed already present (24" row). The white tables sit just below the bushes, and my plants sit in pots, get sun but are totally protected from the critters. I planted green plants/flowers and herbs. The herbs are in a long trough (mint in one) and chives, Italian parsley and basil in the other long trough. One trough is in the front, the second is right behind the first. Then on the right I put day lilies (in a pot, right now). I haven't been able to grow them because of the deer and bunnies, but now I know I can. One garden center suggested I buy a water trough at a tractor store (close by), because the plants need more growing space than the 5.5" depth in this table. I looked at the aluminum troughs; they sit ON THE GROUND, and I would be feeding the animals using them. I chose white because my trim is cream and I thought I could paint the tables either cream or green, but since they can't be seen from the front, I'm not wasting my money on paint. Again, I didn't plant directly into the upper table, but used pots for all plantings. The fall of the potato plant (light green) is beautiful next to the other plants. The tables can be put together in 5 minutes (no kidding) from unpacking and constructing. Easy peezy. If you order these from a popular home item supplier online with free shipping, the price is TWICE as much. If you order from the manufacturer, the cost is twice as much and you don't get the table with the lower table present. So this is a great deal for a sturdy project that really works. BTW, there is a drain in the top part of the table if you plant into soil there. I water the plants easily, with the drain out, using an elongated nozzle on the "shower" setting. Water falls like rain on the plants without getting the windows wet behind the tables. FYI, I received nothing for this review. Enjoy!

Sturdy but Shallow
This is a nice planter, looks good and is easy to clean. The planter itself is on the shallow side, not great for things that need more root space like tomatoes, but great for flowers that don't need as much. It would also be good to just set potted plants in. It is lightweight, I would not put heavy pots on the lower shelf or bags of rocks or potting soil on it. I was using it as a pseudo potting bench until I planted it and it worked fine. It's a good height and fits nicely under my window.

Great container garden!
I loved it so much I ordered a second one! This is great for those in apartments who want to grow something on their balcony. We purchased a townhouse and have a large deck but no grass so I bought a second one to expand my container garden. These are very sturdy and well made. They're quite deep and do a wonderful job. I had some small terra cotta pots on the bottom shelf and the shelf didn't bow too badly. I bought a second planter to match the first but if I was buying for the first time I'd choose another color-the green ones my neighbor has look great. The shelf is a little more matte and doesn't wipe down quite as easily as the sides/legs. Would love if the manufacturer offered a matte option! I must have left something on the shelf over the winter and I have a large discoloration mark there but not the end of the world. Definately a great budget planter-it fit perfectly at our old apartment-would highly recommend!

Gardening without Bending and Heavy pots!
I have four of these, and bought more for friends. They look nice and 'clean' and are lightweight so they're easy to handle. The pieces just snug in together so there's NO hassle putting them together, and they're super easy to transport, because you just take off the bottom shelf (by lifting it up from the tabs it's resting on) pull out the legs and it's apart.I drilled a bunch of extra drainage holes in mine, so if I water a lot, it'll run onto what's below. That's fine for me, since I have plants on bottom shelf, too. On one that I have gardening tools, gloves, etc, I didn't put soil in the top shelf, just potted plants, which looks great, too. That way no draining into my tools. This is my first season using them, but I'm going to try leaving at least one up all season, with artificial plants, and holiday stuff in, and store the rest.My thoughts are that if a leg breaks for some reason (which I don't expect.. it's sturdy pvc plastic) I could take the top part off and just sit it someplace for a window box look.I really love them -- especially because they're inexpensive enough to get a couple.BONUS: For anyone who wants to patio-garden or porch-garden but has trouble getting down to reach pots, this is a great option. I have just herbs in one and LOVE it!
