Good product, great series, could be a little less pricey.
Great series, I'm glad they bundled the first two seasons together. Could have been a little less pricey because the first season doesn't have very many episodes. But overall I was happy with my purchase.

A Classic Horror Series of Greatness!
Best horror series ever. I used to watch Tales from the Crypt when I was 12 yrs old. This series used to creep me out. Now its just entertaining lol. I enjoyed these two seasons alot and plan to buy the rest of them and have them as collectables once I have the complete 7 seasons. Would recommend these to any horror fan.

I love how this is packaged. I also love how they made these DVDs like a comic book kind of feel. They also have extras! Can't wait to finish collecting this cult classic.

Nice Slice of Horror TV- Some Hot, Some Not.
After looking around at the previous 3 reviews on here I thought it was important to have an in depth review of Tales From the Crypt the first two seasons. The show starting in 1989 is remembered fondly enough and the cryptkeeper is the stuff of legend, we all know him, and even passing TV fans have all seen him. A very iconic presenter, if just a puppet. So onto the episodes and how they rate. Which episodes are TV horror heaven? Which are great?, and which quite simply stink?First off lets get one thing straight- paying around 15 pounds with postage included for two seasons of Tales is a great deal. You get 24 episodes. Just the 6 on season 1 and a whopping up the ante of 18 on season 2. What you will notice first is of course the packaging- which is fantastic. A joy to behold. You get a slipcase with embossed writing, and the dvds themselves are presented in a gatefold sleeve, with many colour pics stashed inside on the sleeve. The whole thing just feels like quality- you will actually feel a little guilty that you paid so little, even to such a huge company as Warners.Once you pop the disc in, it doesn't stop there- the quality of picture unlike later seasons is superb, especially for material that is over twenty years old. And then we have a host of some wonderful actors and actresses appearing on each episode- actors that you can tell have actually been to something called acting school. But hey there's more- the production team. Richard Donner, Robert Zemeckis, Walter Hill, you get my drift? So we have 24 episodes. Of which 16 are great and 8 are just average, clinging to good.Lets run down them.- Notice I don't want to give stories away too much as personally I like diving into them 'fresh'- maybe you do too?The Man Who Was Death starts us up. This is a terrific episode- starring Bill Sadler, he's convincing, a little mad, always right with opinions and very funny. I love this one, a genuine classic. All Through the House- is taken also from the Amicus movie, about a killer santa on the loose. I found this one enjoyable- not as good as the Amicus one, mind.Dig that Cat, he's Real Gone- Continues the theme of season 1 very well, and tells us that Crypt can really diversify it's material from episode to episode. It's tongue in cheek as many were, but it works.Only Sin Deep is my favourite from season 1. Starring the gorgeous Lea Thompson (Back to the Future)- a very well done episode. Both Lover Come Hack to Me and final episode Collection Completed are competent pieces but not great. Also of worthy note is that Collection Completed is out of lip synch. Unacceptable.Season 2 is the better season, more complete, more edgy, more hideous and a thrill ride. In fact the first half of Season 2 is near perfection. Unfortunetly Tales Season 2 can't keep up the good work right through.Season 2 kicks off with brilliantly with Dead Right- starring Demi Moore- great episode with a neat twist. The Switch which is one of my favourites, is actually directed by none other than Arnold Schwarzengger- who also makes a cameo appearance during the crypt keepers intro. The excellence continues with Cutting Cards- tongue firmly in cheek, but with look away gore and Lance Henriksen, you can't go wrongTil Death is a good episode also, and that is followed by Three's a Crowd- sure you can see how it will end, but the climax is still a good one. The Thing from the Grave (what a title, eh?) stars a young Teri Hatcher, and just about pulls it off with a great ending. The Sacrifice stars the wonderful Michael Ironside- and I really like this one. For Cryin' Out Loud has a cameo from Iggy Pop- It's a rock n' roll episode, that also works well.Four Sided Triangle is very good, and is saved by a great performance by Patricia Arquette- also directed by Tom Holland. Then there is the dip in the season- The Ventriloquist's Dummy, starts off well enough but gets sillier as it goes on. Judy You're Not Yourself Today, is probably the weakest episode on the set. But we are redemmed slighly by the enjoyable Fitting Punishment- Directed by Jack Sholder and an excellent performance by Moses Gunn.Kormans Kalamity trys to be clever, about the actual drawings that go into the crypt comics- but it just doesn't come off, and the climax is too predictable. The same could be said for Lower Berth- which delves into the origins of the crypt keepers birth- do we really need to know this? It's actually a fairly eerie episode, with shades of The Elephant Man- but could have been better.Mute Witness to Murder is another return to form. And I have to say that I was blown away by Richard (The Waltons) Thomas' performance here. Evil guy. Really good episode.Television Terror about a haunted house actually has a few genuine scary moments. And is another solid episode. My Brothers Keeper is classic tongue in cheek Tales, but it doesnt completely work- and final episode The Secret is quite effective until it's over the top silly climax. There are a bunch of special features on both sets- and any horror fan will instantly recognise actors, actreeses, writers and directors of the genre in these episodes.Tales from the Crypt Season 1 and 2 is an essential purchase if you like horror anthology's. The price is perfect, and even though this is not absolutely classic material all the way through, it is here. I enjoyed the majority of episodes, and find it easy to rewatch most of them again.

This is actually multi-region (1,2,3 and 4)
I got fed up of waiting for a Region 2 release of this series here in the UK, so eventually decided I would risk purchasing this US region 1 import in the hope that it might play on my iMac...and what do you know, it does! It is described as Region 1, but when I open up the region setting on the dvd/disc menu, it is actually multi-region (region 1,2,3 and 4). Wish I had found this out sooner! I have now ordered all the other seasons of this fantastic series!
