in this price range, its the best headlamp to get.
I own an armytek wizard pro headlamp, zebralight headlamp and I bought this one for my friend, I also own two other 3 other nitecore flashlights, for the price you get the best headlamps.pros.- high lumens and more than enough for a headlamp.- focused beam but at the same time it illumnates the surrounding so you get to see whats around you without sacrificing the throw of the headlamp.- small size for a high lumen headlamp- best looking headlamp :) as far as I know.- red light is very useful in camping.- relatively rugged and solid.cons-headband is less than average, not very durable.-small rubber holder for the headlamp.-protruded lamp makes it vulnerable to impacts.-mounting battery mechanism not very practical in stressing situation.if your only spending 60$ for a headlamp this is the best value you will get, and you won`t be disappointed, yes other headlamps are brighter but trust me when I tell you the difference between 500 lumens and 1010lumens is not that significant especially when putting all the other factors in place, such as the reflector size, reflector depth and the class used, comparing it to the wizard pro 1000+ lumens there wasn`t a significant brightness difference.nitecore support is very helpful so thats also a plus.I highly recommend this product.

excellent bright light. good controls. Use every night (and sometimes during day at work)
I own three different types of nitecore headlamps. This is the first one I bought and it is one of my favorites. It is well built, puts off a generous wide beam, and has two red LEDs. I wish this headlamp had a USB charger built in, but oh well. I own the nitecore one that does. The side button control is easy to use and out of all the headlamps, I like this button system the best. The headband is comfortable and the batteries last fairly long time if you don't run it full brightness all the time. I usually do but I am usually working around the house , so every other day I just put in a new recharged battery.Awesome light. Great for backpacking (although they make one that is lots lighter than this one), great for work around the house.I am a general surgeon and this light is much better than the "medical grade" light I bought at the last conference. I use this in my office all the time. When out in my sheep fields and walking the dogs, I combine this light with nitecore MH27 flashlight, which has a beam not as wide but trows a tremendous distance.

Great light!
I bought this for a buddy of mine and this is maybe the sleekest and most powerful headlamp you can buy for cheap. I love how it uses just (1) rechargeable 18650 battery and you don't have to deal with the 4 AA's on the back of your head. I own flashlights like the nightcore srt-3, Fenix pd 35, and the EagleTac g25c2 and this light is pretty bright compared to those. It may be brighter then my srt-3 but this has a smaller reflector so it's more of a flood (Spill) light, not throw (beam) light. It's great for outdoors at night and again, the tiny form factor of this light is great. It also utilizes the newest (as of 1/13/14) Cree bulb, the XML(2)-T6. There's also the XML(2)-U2 bulb out there but I haven't seen any of those bulbs on a nitecore product yet. The difference between the T6 and the U2 is the T6 is more of a neutral white, better for outdoors in the forest and nature etc. The U2 is a cool white and better for in the city or indoors etc. The U2 is also a little brighter then the T6.

Great headlamp
The best headlamp I've ever had, and I've had about 20 of them. I've used them since about 1990 for mountaineering (those "alpine starts"). This one is too heavy for serious mountinerring, but for around the ranch it works great. I can angle it up to see where I'm going, but I can angle it down when working with the horses so I don't get them in the eyes. This was my third one.

Definitely worth every single penny
I work under large commercial diesel engines and this headlamp is absolutely perfect for illuminating my work area being that the throw is a floodlight type. I was previously using an eBay special headlamp with a spot light focused beam and wouldn't be productive in some situations where I needed an entire area illuminated. This nitecore headlamp has about 5 levels of brightness. Level 2 and 3 being perfect and 4 and 5 turbo being all fun and to show off. The best is that everything is built into the lamp system, battery and light so no nonsense behind your head if you need to lay on your back

Love it
I'm not as young as I would believe my self to be, BUT in my day I've used lanterns, torches, and many other lighting "stuff" to see in the dark. This is like a tool that you must have, I use it to do some leak repair under the sink, to look for things in the garage at night, to walk my dogs at night around the neighborhood. No batteries to buy, just recharge and keep one set in at all times in case of emergency's. AND it has great lighting imagine that.

very bright
Nice and compact, but a bit on the heavy side, but I suppose that comes with brightness and a large battery. May not be easy to operate with thick gloves on. Fit is nice, but not very secure if one needs to bend head down such as looking under a car. Head strap could be tightened, but then it is not comfortable. This is not necessarily a unique problem for this unit, but more of an inherent problem of such products.
