Norelco Electric manufactured in Netherlands is excellent!
This is my second Norelco cordless razor. Previous one just died. I always fully discharged it then re-charged it for the 7 yrs I shaved with it. Excellent life-span I'd say. I wanted to buy a cheaper Norelco model but the reviews were luke-warm and most confirmed that they were often of Chinese or Mexican origin. This model is about the same price as my previous one and it says "Made in Netherlands". It is lighter. Still feels the same in my hand. It does an excellent job for my light beard/stubble growth. It charges quickly and although I haven't used it long enough to determine the duration of the charge but it appears to be on track for at least 4 wks of shaving. My old Norelco gave me at least 5 weeks on average and I think it was a Ni-Cad battery. I'm told this has a Ni-MH battery but I haven't opened it to check. No need. I'm prone to being very curious but sometimes that small extra part left-over after closing up puzzles me....;>) I did have to get the on/off plastic button glued on by a regional Norelco certified repair shop on my old Norelco about 1+ yrs ago. He simply glued the broken plastic piece back in place and for ten bucks I was on my way. I almost tossed the shaver but glad I didn't because it still worked and held a charge for 3+ wks at that point. This new Norelco is definitely a product that "you get what you pay for..". It is excellent. Not cheap (though it may feel a bit cheap) and I expect it to last me another 5-7 yrs. For my old Norelco, I did buy a new set of blades after 2 yrs but used them continuously until the shaver finally died last month. The new one does trim closer and is easy to clean. The packaging consists of that horrific plastic clam-shell stuff so better have a strong pair of scissors handy. No nylon case like my 1st one but the old case is the right size for the new one. You can't go wrong with this product and Amazon's free shipping was super-fast as always.

OK in a pinch, or when you don't have running water available
I taught myself to shave, and grew up with multiblade cartridges and electric shavers like this one. For what it is, the Norelco 7810 does a good job. It holds a charge for months, and gets a relatively close cut on my face without nicks and without any type of cream, paste, gel, oil, or other lubricant. I use it when on military maneuvers with the National Guard. We often spend time in a field environment without running water or mirrors and I'm still expected to have a reasonably hair free face. Having said that, electric shavers are not my shaving device of choice. Rather, I prefer a double edge blade in an old-fashioned heavy handle. If you have the time to pamper your face, do some reading and consider purchasing a DE system instead. Your shave will be closer than you've ever had, and your face will thank you. New shaving systems are designed to be fast, easy and profitable for the manufacturer. But they just don't measure up to the old ways.Leisureguy's Guide to Gourmet Shaving - Fifth Edition: Shaving Made EnjoyableMerkur "Futur" Safety Razor, Satin Finish

Norelco IS the best!
Finally!! A replacement for my 10 yr old Norelco 5603X, which by the way is still giving me 3-4 30 minute shaves per charge, but I know it won't be long before they (10 yr old NiCads) finally give up the ghost. That shaver has been such a pleasure to use over the years, with only 3 cutter replacements, I may just pay to have the batteries replaced and keep it as a backup. But back to this 7810 shaver, it looks like the replacement for my old model, and is priced at exactly the same amount. It's much lighter and much more quiet, which I like a lot. Also, the blinking light when the charge is complete is very handy....I have to watch the clock with my old one...but the head assembly seems to be a bit "cheaper". But I look forward to as many years of comfortable, close shaves with this model as I've had with my old one. If you recognise my name, you know I bought a Remington a while back and have since trashed it!! Norelco, in my book, is the only shaver to own! I would recommend this shaver to anyone looking for a moderately priced, dependable shaver. Another observation of note is that one reviewer thinks it's great to be able to plug this shaver in and "shave and charge" at the same time...this is NOT the case. The booklet clearly states that it "does not charge" if it's "on" while plugged in. And also that doing so will effect the battery life...just so you're aware of this.

A solid upgrade from a 10 year old Norelco
This shaver replaces a 10 year old Norelco that finally wore out. There are some improvements in head design with screens that have both slots and holes (vs just slots) plus 3 floating/tilting heads (vs no tilting). The results for me are a closer shave with fewer passes compared to my old unit.Another feature I like is the cordless operation. I was able to get 12 shaves off the initial charge. The recharge is fairly quick at just over an hour.My unit is fairly quiet like my previous Norelco which lets me shave in the morning without waking my spouse. Finally, I love the easy cleanup . Just pop the top open and rinse under running water. Now I just hope it lasts 10 years like the last one.Update July, 2013After 2 years of use I can report this shaver is still functioning perfectly. The batteries continue to hold a good charge and I can go at least 2 weeks between charges (it takes me 2-3 minutes to shave each day). I'm on Amazon looking for replacement blades, which I am changing for the first time.

Still working great
As for the back of the neck, instead of pulling skin tight, relax the skin, and reduce pressure, no more burn !

Very disappointed.
My husband is in a nursing home. The caretakers shave him but it is left up to me to clean it. I am verycareful.
