Are sure you can get staples for this before buying.
This tool is useless to me. I can't find staples for it. I bought it to use with 12 and 14 NM wire. Right now it is just a paper weight for me.

CableBoss staple/straps can work.
The company might be out of business, and now that cable straps made expressly for this gun are virtually unavailable... with a slight adjustment to bring the final staple guides into a parallel alightment allows it to shoot CableBoss wire staple/straps of similar design. The strap staples need to be guided straight.Neither of these guns is flawless, but it's not really necessary to throw the PowerFast in the garbage as yet.The nature of these guns is still to require a final hammer tap to have them seat securely when we need that tighter holding power. Wire staples are more often guides for positioning while strength in holding power is secondary. In the world of tools, we occasionally find a need to modify to meet our needs or correct manufacturer tolerances with minor adjustments. Oftentimes when experiencing difficulties, we will find China, Taiwan, or the name of some other foreign entity stamped somewhere on the tool. When all else fails and tools really become frustrating to our own inner peace and comfort, it's then time to send them to tool Heaven and suck up to the loss while gaining some experience toward understanding who truly cares about the quality of their products. If buying American means paying a bit more, it's more than likely the difference in quality and quality tools cost more.3 stars because the lever tiedown bail went missing, the company left no inventory, and none of these guns are not flawless while still saving time and helping in difficult situations.

Powerfast Strap Gun
Awesome product. The first row of straps I used were feeding in and jamming. Once I got about 12-20 straps through it, it has been running great! I recommend this gun, however the straps (staples) it uses are getting almost impossible to find unless you pay a bunch for a box of 400 of them.

Powerfast Electrical Wire Strap Gun
I've had this DESA Powerfast strap gun for several years and still use it occasionally. I generally tend to use it only in areas like unfinished attics and crawl spaces where it is sometimes faster, easier and more convenient than using a regular hammer and romex staples. I'm kind of surprised to still see it for sale here on Amazon, at least without a disclaimer, because the company that made these strap guns closed up shop several years ago and as other reviewers have clearly stated, the proprietary #S12-14-400 insulated staples that fit this strap gun are no longer being made and are next to impossible to find. You might occasionally find a box of the staples for sale on eBay, but the seller usually wants some absurd amount of money for them, so as far as I'm concerned they can keep them. I still have several boxes left to use with it, but once they are gone I'll have to retire this albatross. It's too bad because I think this really is a pretty decent stapler. Back when I bought it the Powerfast strap gun was the only one of this type, but there are now other similar staplers like the Gardner Bender MSG-501 and the Arrow T72 that have low cost insulated staples readily available. BTW, I checked to see if maybe the GB staples would work with my Powerfast gun and they would not. The GB staples look almost exactly the same as the Powerfast staples and will actually load in the stapler okay, but the plastic collating strip on the GB staples is just a little taller and all they will do is jam, jam, jam. So overall, unless maybe you need this Powerfast strap gun for parts or already have a bulk supply of staples for it on hand, I would avoid it.

Nice stapler, bought at Home Depot
The staples needed to use it could not be found after a thorough search. A stapler without staples to use in it is not very usefull. This is unfortunate situationally, as it makes a rather usefull tool into a curiosity, dramatic prop, or, more likely, scrap metal.

Horrible!
I hardly ever review anything, but I’m in the midst of doing some wiring and trying to use this staple gun right now (I bought it years ago at HD)... it jams 3x for every staple it shoots and is SO bad, I had to look it up to say something. Utter garbage!
