could it be used for woodworking applications ? impact protection ?

Yes. I got it after a moment of carelessness at the tablesaw that resulted in a chunk of wood hitting me in the eye. The shield is very clear and allows for good visibility and good coverage. Very comfortable to wear. I have not had anything hit it yet but seems appropriately sturdy. I will not use the tablesaw or router without it. Makes things feel much safer. Be sure to adjust the straps so that it feels snug when leaning over. First one I had too loose and it fell off into the table saw blade. That did break a piece off but probably not designed for that kind of impact. I promptly purchased a second one.

Can this item be worn with hearing protection? It looks as though it would interfere with my sound-blocking muffs.

Yes, depending on the earmuffs. I have a pair of 3M headphones with the radio. They work, but not the best. The 2 wires that attach the headstrap to each muff are not low profile. They are spread too wide and don't allow me to position the strap over the top of my head. I have to rock them back a little. That does help hide my bald spot, though. Headphones that have a single mounting point and are lower profile should work very well.

Will this fit over a 3m half face n95 mask?
