Power, precision, and perfect balance that doesn't feel clumsy one-handed even though weighs 5+ lbs
I've used and abused this tool since 2006. The responsive control on the trigger is like it's wired into my brain. It's really heavy and beefy (5lbs5oz) yet it's perfectly balanced and ergonomic when I hold it one-handed, instead of feeling clumsy like so many similar power tools. This is why nearly all of my power tools are Bosch. In the last couple years I bent the spindle more and more a little at a time - particularly after I used a dull 1/2 inch drill bit extensively pushing at an angle like it was a forstner bit into dense old-growth oak in a 100-year old house and bent the spindle til it wobbled. Heavy use also included attaching an auger to it to drill out holes in the ground for sprinkler heads and the like (I'm not recommending these things, I've learned my lesson and bought a forstner bit set).Took it in to replace the spindle at a top-notch local repair guy who's seen it all repairing tools for 20 years, and when I picked it up he raved about the torque, fine trigger control, and balance of this great this made-in-Switzerland drill was, compared with what he sees DeWalt turning out the last few years as a once-great toolmaker has gone downhill. And how the grease was mostly all there and still looked like a relatively much newer tool inside when he went to repack the grease. If it wasn't such a truly great tool, I had to wonder whether a repair guy who'd never met me and only talked with me once on the phone would have lovingly scraped off as much paint as possible that it had accumulated over ten years. He was surprised when I told him I checked on replacement cost and this particular Bosch drill says it's still made in Switzerland in 2017. btw, Bosch also shipped the replacement spindle part out FedEx overnight, so I dropped it off at tool repair 3:30pm one day and got a call my drill was repaired and ready to pick up 11:30am the next morning. Bosch has always deserved my loyalty, 100%.I can either pull the trigger on this so gently that the chuck only makes one revolution every 10-15 seconds yet with plenty of torque, or else will go "0-60 mph" instantly if I want. Makes such a difference when I want to progressively apply a little more torque at a time so that I don't strip a screw, damage an irreplacable piece of an old house, or otherwise overdo it.You get what you pay for. If you want precision and power that feels like it's an extension of your hand and your brain, this is a six-star tool that stands up and is worth repairing for years to come. I have two cordless Bosch drills/drivers now, however if I'm near an outlet I want to feel this one in my hand. This is what great power tools are supposed to feel like - there's a certain thrill that comes from holding such an amazing piece of engineering in your hand while it's running. Most tools just don't have it.

Wish it was a 5 star tool
I like Bosch products and purchased this drill due to its price, features, and the fact that it's made in Switzerland and not China. It is a powerful tool, to be sure. It has no problem turning a 4" holesaw through hardwood, and in fact, once the teeth catch the drill spins hard enough to cause injury. This brings up the first of my two issues with the drill. The side handle clamps on to the gear housing, and as such constantly gets loose if the drill binds. It would have been so much better had the handle threaded directly into the metal housing. This constant loosening becomes rather annoying, and even dangerous because the handle starts to slide toward the chuck. This leads to the second issue I have. The chuck, while made in Japan, did not hold tight enough despite all three holes being tightened. I replaced it with a German made Rohm chuck, which was on sale for through another vendor and it works perfectly. Holds tight and doesn't slip. Overall the fit and finish is superb and the thing sounds powerful, which it is. The trigger works as it should. I wish it didn't have these two deficiencies, especially since I paid a buck and a half for it, and with the new chuck am into it for just under two. Even so, it is a good product and I don't really have any regrets.

Not a very powerful drill. Auger bits got stuck ...
Not a very powerful drill. Auger bits got stuck often. Head snapped off when the last bit got stuck. Go with the Milwalkee.
