I haven’t had a reason to carry my old zippo for half a decade(quit smoking cigarettes). I recently started smoking cigars with some guys at theology on tap. Was window shopping for a cigar torch when I came across this zippo insert and thought it would be perfect for lighting stogies as well as resurrecting my old sentimental zippo! Works great and looks cool. Flame is about halfway on the adjustment. At full force this thing rips. Would absolutely recommend!

Long time zippo fan and collector- I purchased this to smoke cigars because I already had cases and I wanted a decent lighter that wasn’t 50-100 dollars. And who doesn’t love a zippo “clink”. A few things to note: 1. Buy REALLY good butane. Xikar HP and/or high altitude fuel. 2. If you want this lighter to stay reliable you need to remove the flame adjustment limiter so you can fully unscrew the adjustment knob to “purge” any air pockets as needed. (Be careful and return it to minimum setting when you reassemble). I ran into issues after the first 5-6fills where it wouldn’t light or stay lit and simply depressing the fill valve to purge didn’t help. Upon unscrewing the fuel adjustment a big “poof” came out and now she’s good to go. 3. Know that the form factor of a zippo means a low fuel capacity. For me between toasting, lighting and touch ups I get about 3-4 cigars before I have to refill it. For a daily carry or home lighter it’s absolutely fine. I might consider the single flame one to see if the fuel lasts longer with 1 flame vs 2.

All throughout the 1990s, I had hundreds of Zippo lighters. I had Zippos from all around the world. I would buy every single ship lighter from my ship store when they were in stock and trade them with sailors from other Navies. I would trade them with sailors from other U.S. Navy ships. I would trade them with others from different military branches. Sadly, they were all stolen. Now, 30 years later, I decided to pick up a few Zippo lighters, and I happened to see this butane conversion insert. My only dislike is that this is a Chinese made authorized Zippo insert and not a U.S. made insert. So far, it takes butane easily, it lights easily, it fits well, and the lighter it is in, as a whole, looks like it was made this way. The flame adjustment screw works well even though the slot doesn't match the plus or minus exactly well. It was easy to set the flame where I wanted it. Now, I actually like the old flint strike naptha/kerosene Zippos better, but my daughters don't. We light candles and incense in our house daily, and they are actually afraid to light a flint lighter because they feel they will drop it and not be able to put it out, unlike this push button ignition and release shut off. While no one smokes in our family, a Zippo lighter is a good thing to carry with you everywhere. It's like a pocket knife. Two tools you should always have on hand. Every responsible person may need to cut some kindling with a pocket knife and a lighter to start the fire. A sustainable lighter is always better than matches. Who knows when you will need to light a candle or lamp in a storm? Also, this is a two jet lighter. One small jet works great for smaller lighters or bigger jet for torches, but this insert with two jets just fits better. Three or more would have just been overkill and a waste of fuel. The igniter is crisp and not spongy nor light. It sits just right in the middle. I recently purchased a generic Chinese 4 jet lighter that was large, used too much fuel, the flames were just not substantial, and the push button igniter felt like it would give out at any moment. It was also very hard to fill and wasted fuel while filling. I returned it without hesitation. Zippo lighters, no matter the model are better made. They are workhorses. They won't let you down. They will get borrowed and not returned or stolen long before they wear out. Wish I had picked up a couple of these sooner instead of buying cheap plastic or generic lighters.

Do check out YouTube video on how to fix butane insert. It is working well, after adjusting the valve. **REVISED REVIEW** This is rather disappointing: it turned out to be one that only looks good. The Butane Insert performed great initially. As I began using it, I noticed the flame getting shorter. I maxed out the flame, but to no avail. now one month and 3 days later, it altogether stopped working. I pressed the igniter button next to my ear, and I do not hear any "Sssss..." from the nozzle. No gas is escaping, when the ignitor button is pressed, even when the piezo clicks. I appears that gas is not being released at all to be ignited. So, I find this item suffers from two defects: 1) Gas output control lets out gas only at the minimum strength; 2) Igniter button does not release gas. So I checked Zippo website for return instruction. They want my address, email, and telephone, and picture of the date code on the insert. Too much hassle, and not giving out my personal info for this POS. Zippo wants to mine my personal info, in return for fulfilling their warrantee. So I checked the return policy on the item page on Amazon, and it may be returned, IF UNUSED! By the way, the return window closed exactly one month after purchase. Well, sad to say it, but: GOOD LUCK with buying this piece, future customers! It's a gamble. It's not the same Zippo, at least not after 2005. That was last time I bought one. It remains a perfect Zippo specimen. ** ** ** ** ** I filled it for 5 sec initially, before I attempted to light. It was touch and go in the beginning. I filled it until the gas began to leak (to the full), and it lit up everytime. The trick is to depress the button lightly to let the gas out, then depress all the way down for the piezo to spark. Voila! twin lovely blue flame shot up. I will see about its longevity and gas retention after a period of enjoyable use. AS for $15 (almost) price? Well... I wish it was cheaper, but if this insert last long, I think I can accept it. But I bought it for the novelty value and coolness of it.

With dorm rules i cant burn candles, so I grabbed this Zippo insert for my old case to use outside instead. I went with the butane torch one and it works well on windy nights behind my building. I just flip, click, and it lights fast. No fuss with refilling every few days either, the gas lasts me through a bunch of weekend hangs. The blue flame looks cool when we sneak out for late study breaks and someone always asks to borrow it. My favorite part is I can keep the same Zippo shell my brother gave me and still have a lighter thats actually practical.

This insert has brought new life back to my old Zippo lighters. I don't smoke cigarettes or pipes and only smoke cigars, so the old fuel Zippo lighters were of no use to me and had been sitting in boxes for years. When I found out about these butane inserts I bought one and am really happy with it.

Yep, grabbed this Zippo insert on a random 1am scroll between bug fixes and honestly its become part of my desk ritual. I keep an old brass Zippo from college next to my monitor and this brought it back into actual use instead of just decor. First test was lighting a candle after a late deploy and it fired up instantly, no weird smell, nice consistent flame. I like that I just pop it out to refill without making a mess on my keyboard. The click sound with the old case is super nostalgic and weirdly calming during long standups. Bought one more for my dads workshop and he got way too excited about it.

Seems like these lighter inserts work well for everyday use, especially when you're out camping or just need a quick light at home. I like how easy they are to swap into my existing Zippo. However, they don't last very long before needing a refill, which can be a bit inconvenient if you're in a hurry. Still, they’re a handy backup and save me some money since I can replace just the insert instead of the whole lighter. Overall, a decent purchase for quick lighting needs but could improve on durability.

The lighter started leaking after 7 month of use. Not worth the money

Works great for cigars. Carry 100L of butane with you to the smoke-lounge though.

Come si legge negli altri commenti i punti di forza non sono sicuramente la durata della fiamma dato che comunque la quantità di gas è limitata (è uno zippo non un cannello a gas). La durata va in funzione anche di come è stata regolata la fiamma: troppo gas infatti rischiate anche che la fiamma non si spenga subito; poco gas non si accenderà al primo colpo e la fiamma borbotta fastidiosamente. Personalmente l'ho preso in quanto fumatore di sigari quindi lo uso di rado. L'idea è magnifica perché mi permette di utilizzare zippo che non utilizzavo da tempo. Chi fuma spesso ovviamente consuma molto più in fretta il gas al suo interno con la noia di dover ricaricare più spesso. Ultima cosa: ho trovato abbastanza difficile inserirlo e rimuoverlo dalla sede degli zippo. Spero che con il tempo si consumi un po' e ne renda più semplice lo smontaggio e il rimontaggio
