Dell Optiplex 745 DT Desktop motherboard Intel Chipset, Part Numbers: HP962, KW628, PT395, RF705, MM599, WW034,YJ137, NW444, NX183

Brought a very sick Dell computer back to life. This was a drop in replacement that was accomplished in about 30 minutes. The only issue I had was the battery that came installed on the board was dead. But this is easily and inexpensively replaced.

My old MoBo was flaky from the start. This machine was a refurb. The MoBo has the Dell stamps on it, but even after BIOS and Chipset updates... it never really ran right. Mostly USB problems, especially on the front ports. Rarely recognized devices properly, if at all, and was marginally better on rear USB ports. Then a few months ago this started randomly shutting down. Nothing in the minidump folder or event logs, so I knew the MoBo or Proc was dying. Opened her up and sure enough found a bulging cap (that eventually burst)Ordered this new MoBo on prime and it's been rock-solid for 24 hours now, and my kids and I both think the video res is better. Looks crisper and brighter. Also the USB port problems are gone. I need this PC to last me through this school year for the kids and even though I'm still on XP it saved me from having to go buy a new one for just a little while longer. Very relieved.

I used the 745 motherboard to replace my older GX620 motherboard. With BIOS update 2.6.6 this motherboard can run a Intel Core 2 Quad 2.67GHz (strongest possible) and, combined with my GTX 650Ti SC GPU, It will run my SWTOR (and my other games) on maximum graphics setting while staying within 30-75 fps even in the most crowded areas. The only draw back with this motherboard is that, combined with Windows 8, the Integrated audio will not seem to work. However, this is easily fixed with an internal or external sound card. Long story short, this is a great inexpensive motherboard that you can get to upgrade your GX620 or any other BTX Dell computer older than a 745. In comparison with the GX620, the 745 can support a total of 8GB DDR2 @ 667MHz or 533MHz or 4GB @ 800MHz. The GX620 supports only 4GB @ 533MHz. The 745 supports up to the Intel Core 2 Quad 2.67GHz (Benchmark: 3355). The GX620 supports up to the Intel Pentium D 960 (Benchmark: 1000).

We've still got a dozen Optiplex 745s in the office that I added memory to and upgraded to Windows 7 Pro a couple of months ago. One, however, was flaky, would occasionally freeze, and ultimately started exhibiting the solid-color screen freezes that mean there are bad caps (capacitors) on the motherboard. Sure enough, two were bulging and leaking electrolyte.For $45 and 30 min of time I swapped in this new board. It booted immediately to the BIOS screen where I set it up, then rebooted straight into Windows. Works great. Just to be sure I flashed the BIOS to the latest from Dell and then returned it to service with my user.I was wary of going the other route and buying a used board from eBay. I'm keeping these machines going as long as they are usable, and glad I could fix it so easily and cheaply.

I didn't know it used special fans, and I can't find the processor fan anywhere so they look nice on my wall!

I hooked the Motherboard up. i was able to reinstall everything else including the CPU because it was a perfect match to the original. The packaging was well done to protect the item. Everything looked perfect on inspection. I used a simple program to configure and install the data and was up and running in no time. Description was as advertised and was a snap to install. I have had trouble in the past with reconditioned motherboards. However this one is OEM and in perfect condition. Board is causing error issues. Was purchased in 3/2014 and quit working 2/2015.
