As good as my Apple 5K iMac
I bought this because the all-in-one desktop I prefer has been discontinued. I needed an equivalent monitor to use with a Mini M2 desktop. After much research I chose the LG, mostly because of claims that it is the same as the monitor LG built for the manufacturer of my desktop. The claims appear to be true. The clarity of the picture - no fuzziness at all - and the brightness make the monitor a joy to use, even for hours at a time. It has the same screen dimensions as the monitor built into my previous desktop but is shorter because it is just screen and monitor without the additional space used for the processor on my previous system.I am glad I bought this as a replacement monitor. I bought an Amazon-certified used LG monitor at a ridiculously low price, low enough that I could purchase a product protection plan to supplement Amazon's warranty.

Use the right cable on M1 Mac mini or you'll get 4K
I purchased this refurbished LG 5K monitor as an upgrade for my M1 Mac mini. The monitor was packed like new in original box--well done.Monitor comes assembled to the stand. There are two cables included--USB-C and Thunderbolt. Pay attention, the physical connectors are identical. You can tell the Thunderbolt cable because it has a lightning bolt on one side of the connector housing. On my M1 Mac mini, I didn't pay attention and initially connected the monitor with the USB-C cable. This cable only supports up to 4K resolution. The monitor was very sharp and clear, but I thought things were a bit large, and sure enough, the resolution was 4K and 5K was not available in the Display Settings.I switched to the Thunderbolt cable and voila! 5K resolution perfectly scaled to 2560x1440, the retina scaled 5K resolution. Clear and sharp. Brightness level is controllable via software. Note that there is no power switch on the monitor--apparently all is controlled via the video cable connection. There are also no other physical switches or controls on the monitor. The speakers are a huge step up from the not-so-good Mac mini internal speaker. Volume is controllable via software and the volume control built into my keyboard works perfectly. The camera is HD and works very well for FaceTime, as do the microphone and speakers. This is an expensive monitor, but is the only 'real' 5K monitor out there, I think. My M1 Mac mini with 16GB ram/1TB SSD was $1299. This refurbished monitor was $949, total $2248. A new 27" iMac with 16GB/1TB prices out at $2399, for comparison.

Very good monitor for those used to 27" iMac Screen
I have had a 27" iMac for over 6 years and gotten extremely used to its high-quality retina 5K screen. After getting a new Macbook Pro and needing to use a monitor, I was a bit worried that I would miss the old iMac screen, but I have found that the LG Ultrafine 5K is similar enough that I don't miss the old screen at all. In fact, I have found it to be even better as it has height adjustability which is a welcome addition as my iMac screen was always a bit low.

Be careful they can cheat you.
They sent me another model, the old 27MD5KA in the box from 27MD5KL. I returned the monitor. It cannot be updated and most features do not work on modern devices. I am extremely disappointed. It looks like they were trying to cheat.

Great 5K Thunderbolt 3 monitor for Macs, at a great price, with one flaw...
You can't beat this monitor for modern Macs with TB3. It is well built with a beautiful display, built-in AC converter (no power brick), and Mac OS integration. My refurb came in great shape, except for the fact that included a Thunderbolt 2 cable instead of TB3 (corrected in 4 days by the vendor). It's great to save $400 for this like new option. My only gripe with it is the lack of a second TB3 port. Without that you cannot daisy-chain other TB3 displays, disks, or other devices. I had planned to chain this monitor off my TB3 raid array, but it doesn't provide power to the MacBook Pro. So I'm stuck plugging two cables into the MBP. Hardly a disaster, but not quite as I had imagined. It will be slightly more of an issue when I choose to add a second monitor. All in all, a great monitor for Mac users at a great price, with annoyingly limited connectivity. I knew this drawback ahead of time, but convinced myself that the OS integration and 5k resolution, along with refurb pricing, were enough to offset it.

Screen is beautiful, but…
The monitor is not horizontal. The right side drops down, with no way to adjust.I should return it, but I braced it into place. This thing is HEAVY.

BUY the LG 27MD5KL-B Ultrafine 27" IPS LCD 5K UHD Monitor While You CAN!!!!
LG 27MD5KL-B Ultrafine 27" IPS LCD 5K UHD Monitor is no longer available from LG or from Apple. This is a great value and I have purchased three to connect to my iMac, iMac Pro, and Mac Pro. Do yourself a favor and order these NOW. This is a bargain price for a 5K screen!!! It looks as good as the iMac Pro 5K Screen and I have old eyes that need the BEST clarity. I promise you won't be disappointed and this seller gives you plenty of time to try it out. P.S. the bezel is matte BLACK and the base is heavy and sturdy.

Amazing 5k picture quality
This is basically the same award-winning display inside the 5k iMac except in a standalone monitor. A single thunderbolt-3 cable connects power and signal between a Macbook Pro and the monitor. No controls or settings or other cables necessary. The display is incredibly bright and with 5k is so pixel dense that it is nearly impossible to see them.My only complaints about this display:1. The industrial design is fine - clean and simple but kind of boring and not very beautiful (wish it was aluminum like the iMac)2. There is quite a bit of backlight bleed, especially at the bottom of the display. However, this is really only noticeable when viewing an all-black image at 100% brightness.
