Highly recommend this book to any level figure drawer because it contains from the basics to advanced material. Like any good art instructive book should have, it has pages FULL of amazing examples that show the different methods and techniques Meads explains. If anyone wants to be a better figure drawer that not only draws better what they see but how the pose feels, then this is the book to buy!

Great for Artists to be
Downloaded the Kindle version for grand-kids who are quite young indeed; both are learning to draw. Many an insight given are there to assist in becoming a better artist. The tips shared about how the brain and the body work when drawing have been very helpful. I highly recommend this book

Transformative.
I have reaped the fruits of many, many classics: Goldfinger, Richer, Hale, Bargue, and countless others. I owe these giants much of my ability to draw the figure accurately.Anatomical knowledge is indispensable, but it won't help if the overall drawing is lifeless. The Quick Pose focuses on the first critical step of any life drawing: the gesture. Meads addresses weight/balance, line, shadow, accuracy, drapery and foreshortening strategies - all while avoiding the ponderous "over-anatomized " pitfall. It's an inspiring reminder not to skip this initial, invigorating step.As painters often say, "if there's something wrong with your painting, it's probably a problem with the drawing" Well, if something wrong with your life drawing, it's probably because you skipped the gesture.Excellent book.

Great Book
The best book about figure drawing that I found so far. I do not need better one. Great explanations and pictures and well as very good suggestions how to practice. I have a Kindle addition which I read on my ipad. I will buy hard copy as well.

sent a used copy, book is low quality
Book I got was covered in dirt with the flimsy card stock cover warped already. Ignoring that the binding on the book it a bit crooked and the paper is tissue think newsprint, the info contained is maybe a 5-10 page pamphlet worth of text with over a hundred pages of crude sketches that have nothing to do with the topic. It’s basically just a published text of scratch paper sketches, and almost no instruction. What instruction there is, is surface level.

Technique Essentials for any artist
This book was fantastic!! It taught me all of the missing fundamentals to my drawing. It does a great job at explaining shadows and faces and gives a ton of drawing examples.

Loads of examples and tips
Quick effortless delivery to my small town in Australia.I love this book because its about finding the movement and your style, rather than precision and details.I’d seen a review on youtube and the book doesn't disappoint. It has lots of wonderful examples and is broken into sections to give you something to focus on.I am beginner-mid-level drawer and started back up at life drawing class.
