Thrush 17649 Welded Muffler

I'm a bit shocked at the price of performance mufflers lately. Flowmasters have always been pricey but it wasn't too difficult to fine inexpensive alternatives. Lately though, it seems like all performance mufflers are expensive, except for these Thrush mufflers.I put together a completely custom 3" SS exhaust for my 1968 Fairlane recently. After being all of the tube, the bends, brackets, and flanges, I was pretty tapped out. I was looking for an inexpensive muffler that still wouldn't add a large restriction to the system. I originally was.looking for a straight through oval design but was pretty blown away at the price of such simple mufflers.I finally decided to give these Thrush mufflers a shot. I can say that they sound very similar to the Hooker Aero Chamber (2 1/2") I had on there previously. Looking at their design they also should offer very good flow and little restriction. An advantage of a chambered muffler over a straight through is there is no packing to burn out.For the money I highly doubt there is anything better out there. Heck, even at twice the price. There is something that they did to keep the price down though. Unfortunately these mufflers are Made In China. That may not be important to you but you should at least know so you can make an informed decision.At some point in the future I will likely replace these with some SS mufflers to match the rest of the system. When I do, I will try to find some are in the USA, or make my own. Until then, these will be under my car doing their job.

The media could not be loaded. I like that it sounds good, was easy to weld a hanger to without burning through (its thickness helps).Using a Wye pipe to merge the two headers from a Chevy 350” to the muffler.

Sounds good not over the top opened up the old 350 I ran my exhaust 3 inch down from the y pipe and I got a used 2 3/4 tail pipe 😆 lol.The truck orginal was single into split after exhaust and factory pipes was just redicouls cost wise. I stole a tail pipe from another chevy getting gutted and put that inside a 3 inch run from the. The 3inch id muffler welded most of it together clamp at y pipe clamp behind the muffler. Wedled the extention and cap bend and cut and turned the hanger around and slid the exhaust into place wirebrush some spots hit the hole thing with hi heat paint under the truck should help slow the rott down very happy affordable decent sounding better than cheap stock exhaust from the Local parts store

Installed on ram 1500 with 5.7 hemi. The hardest part was getting the stock muffler out, after that was out took all of 20 minutes to get this thrush put in its place. Sounds great. No drone in the cab WITH the resonator still on. Take the resonator off and its loud in the cab, but sounds so much meaner. I'll take the resonator off day to day and put it back on when I have to tow, or go on long trips.

Fast on time shipping, seems to be good quality and good sound. I wish it was a bit louder, but i did not delete the factory silencer. definitely better than stock. But I don't mind the daily driver being a little quieter. Gives the modern Hemi a more vintage sound.

Threw this on my 2012 F150 Coyote. What else can I say? WOW. Cold start was very aggressive, but settled into a nice low rumble. Stopping at the light, the rumble is great and not obnoxious. Rumble turns to a mean growl revving up to 2k rpms. Slight drone between 1500-2000rpm, but goes away after shifting. No drone at higher gears. Mind you I also have a resonator delete. Will definitely buy Thrush products again!!! Couldn’t be more satisfied with the purchase.

I installed this muffler on an 06 Silverado with a 5.3L and it sounds great. I was looking for something to give my truck I little bit of sound and this muffler did the job. For the price you can not beat this muffler. It's not to loud that you will be annoyed but I nice tone driving down the highway.

Great muffler for the price. They're similar to a two chamber flowmaster in sound. They're pretty loud, but my car (LS with longtubes/no cats) previously had the smallest Dynomax Bullet "mufflers" on it. So compared to those, these Thrush mufflers tone it down quite a bit.If you care about weight and performance, these weigh 4.5lbs/each more than the Bullets they replaced. The overall 9lb weight increase didn't affect my 1/8th mile ET, so that's good too.I highly recommend these.
