Great Picture but...
Delivered on 12-11-15. The picture is fantastic as this is the 3rd Aquos I have owned. The first was back in 06 and it still looks great. Also have a 60in from 2012. This one will most certainly be the last and may well be returned. The interface for setting is a mess. Netflix worked then it stopped working requiring a system reset 1 hour out of the box. The touch pad remote included was great after I had to reset the tv again. Then the accessibility voice over turned on all by itself. So now two system resets later I think that the tv is finally all set. Nope, the media player is all screwed up. Called tech support because the player sees the folder on my computer for shared videos pics etc but the folders start to multiply and blink on and off. Basically the function makes it impossible to select any folder because they are dividing over and over again and moving around the screen while they flash on and off. The tech support lady was nice and we messed with this for 2 hours. It could have been 30 minutes but I could hardly understand anything she said. She told me they will call me back within 7 days. I won't hold my breath but if they do not remedy this issue, it is going back. Buyer beware.

Great TV For The Money, But Room For Improvement
Price: B+Purchased from Amazon on June 11, 2015. At the time the price was $3299.99. I opened a chat with a very friendly Amazon Rep, and had them price match to Sharpâs Website which lowered the price to $2599.99. Today (June 20, 2015) has this TV listed for $2599.98. I can live with overpaying by a penny.Unboxing / Installation: AThe TV is very well packaged and contained plenty of Styrofoam to keep it protected in transit. The following items are included in the box along with the TV:Two Remotes, one large IR, and one small Bluetooth, 4 AA batteries, two feet with mounting hardware, a USB extension cable, and IR Blaster (for sound bar use only â More on this later)Brackets for my wall mount installed without an fuss, and the TV, while heavy was light enough for the wife, and I to lift (six feet) into place without any real issue.Remotes: IR C+ / Bluetooth B+First the larger IR remote is long, and bulky and not well laid out, it is also lacks backlighting. The second remote is Bluetooth, and works fairly well, but the trackpad is a little touchy. About 30 percent of the time an attempted click results in moving up or down in the menu tree rather than selecting the item. Both remotes have the same serious flaw in that their channel up/down buttons cannot be programed to operate a STB. It is very frustrating when you forget this, and try to change the channel only to switch inputs to OTA, as it take no less than 4 clicks/flicks to get back to HDMI 1 where my Dish receiver is plugged into.Image: APQ is very good to excellent, and this set easily beats the Samsung H7150 it replaced. 4k content from Netflix, and YouTube is simply amazing. Sharps upscaler really does a nice job on 1080p content, and SD channels good as well. The TV handles Judder better than the Samsung as well, with a nice smooth pans, without any noticeable Soap Opera effect. This is something that really drove me crazy with my last set.Shadows are well defined, and whites are not washed out at all, even in very bright scenes. Colors pop, and I can really see the increased color gambit that Spectros provides. Green, Red, and Blues are vibrant, but not overly saturated. My panel has No flashlighting, or clouding at normal brightness. I turned the backlight all the way up and did see a small amount of clouding in the top left quarter of the TV. *AS with any panel YMMV*Using the THX presets results in a very accurate image, in fact a run though my Xbox Oneâs calibration program resulted in no changes to the settings. Out of the box this TV looks great.Settings: BSettings are nice, but I wish Sharp would have combined all settings in one place, at present there are setting for the AndroidTV portion of the UI, and one Image/sound/SmartCentral. Bouncing between them is not hard but seems unnecessary.Sound: BThe sound of the speakers is nothing to write home about, but sounded better than I expected. Their output is enough to fill a medium size room without much distortion, but lack any real low end.I canât imagine many people buying this TV, or any large 4k TV for that matter, and using the built in speaker.I wired the sound to output via ARC to a Yamaha 6.1 receiver. There were no issues in this regard, and volume control via ARC works as expected.OS: SmartCentral D / AndroidTV B+Both SmartCentral, and AndroidTV are very fast with little to no lag, again, a welcome change from my Samsung. Netflix and YouTube startup in less than three seconds from a cold launch, and less than a second if they are in RAM. (It seems the TV has enough memory to hold about three apps in RAM)SmartCentral 4.0 is a train wreck ATM, and has many issues; below is the most glaring one:No ability to control a STB (Dish, DirectTV, Cable) there are nice little sections called âChannelsâ, and âDiscoveryâ that show you want is playing, now and in the near future, as well as suggesting shows to watch based off of what you like/watch. These sections are useless, as the TV has no way to control a STB directly. I thought I had installed the IR blaster wrong so I called tech support for help, sadly this is when they advised me that the IR blaster that comes packaged with the TV is only used for controlling the TV when a sound bar is blocking the IR sensor.Tech support advised me, and I quote âThe channel section helps you see what is currently showing. Once you find a show you want note the channel number, and use your dish remote to direct tune to the channelâ I ask the tech if I was going to do that why would I not just use the guide on my Dish box, to which he retorted âYou can do that if it suits youâSharp missed a great opportunity here. I donât know if the included IR blaster can be repurposed to add this functionality in the future, but if it at all possible Sharp needs to put some engineers on this.It is also worth noting that there is currently no SmartCentral 4.0 control app, the Rep advised me that one will be coming in the next month or three⌠but again, that app will be only ½ as useful as it main advertised feature is the ability to search for, and change channels while watching a show. You could, I guess, still use it to browse, and switch to streaming content.Apps: BThe included apps are a bit sparse ATM, with Amazon Instant being the biggest one that is missing; no word on when/if it is coming, but it is mentioned on the detail page so I assume it will show in good time.Search, and install of apps is easy, and intuitive. So far I have installed Plex which works perfect, and a weather app that is, well, a weather app. The selection is not as big as Samsungâs market place, but you can access the Google Play store, and download most any app that is made for tablets even though they are not in the AndroidTV section.Overall: B+This TV strengths outweigh the wacky choices Sharp made with some of the hardware/software. I am hopeful that firmware updates will correct some of it shortcomings as the PQ is something I am not willing to give up.

HORRIBLE motion on 80 inch version. Great features/compatibility
HORRIBLE motion on 80 inch version. I mean HORRIBLE.I bought this TV over a similar Vizio model based on reviews that said it was better for fast motion. However this 80-inch model is NOT the same quality as the 70-inch model. The 70-inch model is THX certified and I have no doubt that it is adequate with motion. The 80-inch model is NOT THX certified and I'm sure it's poor motion performance has a lot to do with it. A football player running looks like he has 3 or 4 feet. There are several motion settings, so it can be reduced, but definitely NOT eliminated. The setting that does the best job of trying to eliminate the motion problem significantly dims the picture. It is gorgeous with 4K source material and has decent upconversion. If you just want to view 4K scenery on YouTube, you are in for a treat. This TV has important future ready/compatibility features of HEVC, VP9 and 4K/HDCP 2.2 on all inputs. These are all VERY important to be able to view 4K material. Don't buy a 4K TV that doesn't have these. This does not have Amazon Instant Video, as no Android UHDTV does, so you will need a FireTV if you want to view it. It does have a USB port near the HDMI port so you can use a FireTV Stick without a separate power supply. However, since the FireTV stick powers up as the TV powers up, chances are, it will change to that input when it senses the FireTV turn on, whether you want it to or not. To avoid this problem, you could turn off HDMI-CEC, but then you will lose other features associated with HDMI-CEC.
