Adafruit i2c / SPI Character LCD Backpack [ADA292]

The Adafruit SPI backpack enabled me to display data to a 4X20 display without any problems. With the normal I2C LCD display interface a problem existed between my program which uses Arduino timers for precision timing and my telescope control LCD display. The Adafruit SPI packplane does not use the timers in the same way, so the conflict is resolved. Using the SPI bus for display interface is working well. Thanks.

This worked as expected. It wasn't too difficult to solder header pins onto it and so far I've had no problem using it with an RGB LCD. The only difference between using this with a regular LCD and an RGB one is that pin 16 doesn't control the backlight power; it controls the red portion of the backlighting. If you want total control of all three colors, only solder pins 1 through 15 and connect the rest to PWM pins for the greatest degree of control.

Just like the title says, this was super simple to assemble, and very easy to use with an arduino.

Nice - look at me all posting lcd text and not needing to connect like 80 wires. Should have bought these a while back. Forgot to order them. my lcd life is so much simpler now.
