Getting used to different color adjustments

The media could not be loaded.  TLDR: Look elsewhere for an accurate IR thermometer... out of two units, both were wildly inconsistent and yielded inaccurate readings.Updated review:Four days after emailing the company and receiving no reply, I decided to return the original unit to Amazon as defective & received a refund. Seven days after emailing the company, they got back with me apologizing for their tardiness and the defective unit. They offered to send me another unit for free, and I accepted the offer and told them I would be happy to give it an honest review, so, here it is. Note: the first two photos on a woodgrain table are from the original review, all others and the video are from the updated review on the replacement unit.The accuracy of the second unit repeated to non-existent accuracy of the first unit, and is all over the place, as can be seen in the photos and video. In the final photo is another IR thermometer (Vevor) which is orange. Even though the Vevor is off a few degrees, at least it''s consistent. The little digital thermometers had set on the various surfaces for several minutes to acclimate. Nothing in my environment accounts for the negative readings provided by both Aoputriver units.Original review:This thermometer is ALL over the place with whacky readings. My hand registered between 108º to 130ºF. Outside on a cold and cloudy 24ºF day this registered -38º & -42ºF. Not the advertised +/- 2-3% accuracy. I will update with seller's responses & results.UPDATE: I wrote to the company via the email address included in the instructions: after four days of nothing but crickets, I realized I didn't want to try another unit from a company with zero customer support. I initiated the return process via Amazon. I would give zero stars if Amazon were honest enough to allow it.

Not exactly how accurate this thing is but it does read the temperature of my furnace. I am reading around 1780F with a steady climb when looking through the top hole while melting aluminum so it is about 100F above melting point. Have not checked it while melting brass. I am sure it will be within the range I need. Room temperature reads about 10F lower than actual temperature but I did not buy for lower heat readings.

This item works great. Just save yourself a headache right off the bat and properly dispose of the useless battery. Use your own fully charged 9V and your ready to go. By the way, battery access is difficult and tedious. Don’t lose the tiny screwdriver that is necessary. This should be in the $35 aisle.
