A chat with friend on the life of our favourite entertainer.
Brilliant read. Hard to put down it tells the story with honesty and humour, much like sitting down with an old familiar friend and having a catch up. Really enjoyed it. Its packed with facts, stories, humour and gives us the insight into the life of our favourite singer and entertainer. You will enjoy, just wish they would do another covering the next period.

Great read! Vividly exciting and unexpectedly hilarious!
A great read! A wonderfully vivid and exciting picture of his life growing up in Kenya, as a performer in the UK, etc his struggle to make a living, the impact on his family and eventually realising what was most important. Touchingly honest and unexpectedly hilarious!(Googled him after being given, and very much enjoying, a friend's decluttered 3-CD set of his music. I had only ever been cursorily familiar with two of his songs previously.)

An excellent account of the early part of Roger Whittaker's career ...
An excellent account of the early part of Roger Whittaker's career but much water has passed under the bridge since this highly entertaining book was written..In this book Roger Whittaker comes across as a good humoured decent man who's personality is a combination of an easy going charm and a fierce determination to succeed in show business. His self written songs contain several recordings which are now regarded as classics, but he has said in recent years that he spent so much time touring that he neglected his song writing. A few facts about Roger Whittaker not contained in this book might be of interest. When this book was written MR Whittaker's record sales were just over twenty million and since then that figure has risen to over sixty million. This is mainly due to Roger Whittaker's huge success in Germany where he attained superstar status and is Germany's biggest ever selling recording artist even outselling Elvis and Michael Jackson in that country. His great hit 'The Last Farewell' is one of only thirty singles in history to sell over ten million copies, selling in total over twelve million. Put in perspective, this record has sold more copies than Elvis's Hound Dog and Blue Swede Shoes combined. Roger Whittaker had his last chart hit in Germany in 2006, released his final album in 2008 and performed his final serious of concerts in Germany in 2013. He was 82 years old in March 2018 and both himself and his wife now live in France.
