Build quality you would expect from Avtex.
Great tv and really good picture, the only problem i have found is that it will not connect to a mobile hot spot from the phone. It looks like you have to have wifi in your van !

dont have a dvd
very good machine ,I purchased a sony dvd player to go with it,would have prefered a built in dvd ,but this does not take away the quality.Nice screen that does not reflect the light like my old one.As we are away on holiday have not used the wifi function yet,the wifi where we are is very unreliable!

Buyers should be aware that smart features are limited.
AS IN headline - otherwise excellent TV set in all respects. However CD/DVD player no longer incorporated and limited smart features. Only BBC Live can be viewed. This somewhat spoils the package.

plugged it in and it worked
Found it was very simple to set up, even though i had not had any dealings with a satellite based television, our motorhome was supplied with a sat disc no tv aerial, picture quality very good, and no problems with sound.

Nice picture, but generally disappointed
I've been running this Avtex 219DSFVP 21.5" smart TV for 9 months. At home, it's our kitchen telly and we transfer it to the caravan for trips away. The TV was purchased to replace a 24" Samsung smart terrestrial DTV which was satellite enabled via a stand-alone mini Humax receiver. The Avtex offered a combined terrestrial and satellite solution, saving weight and power. In use, the Avtex is wi-fi connected at home and wired to a 4G router when mobile. The picture quality of the Avtex is absolutely superb and the viewing angles are impressive, but unfortunately, that's where the plus points end. If you are viewing Freesat directly and have no internet connection, there's no Freesat programme guide. The Freeview EPG is clunky - it's not possible to scroll up and down a page at a time, you must step through line by line. Further remote control issues outlined below. If you plug in a USB memory stick with mp3 files, the tracks are displayed as a flat file even if the tracks are arranged in "album" folders, so the TV doesn't appear to recognise the directory structure on the stick. On board sound is very poor and the speakers distort at fairly low volume levels particularly if there's any music with bass content. A sound bar or 2.1 speaker system improves the audio, but the headphone output appears to have some sort of gizmo that limits the maximum level available to the external audio system at the 3.5mm headphone jack. This doesn't appear to be a function of the "Auto Volume" configuration setting. The remote control interface is really odd. Switch the telly on from cold and all is well. The operation of the remote control is snappy and performs as expected. Leave the TV running for a couple of hours, then attempt to change channel by pressing a numeric key on the remote and nothing happens, so you press again and still nothing happens - scratch head and press a third or fourth time and the telly attempts to change to channel 111 because you've pressed the 1 key three times. Aaaargh! Power off and back on again and all is OK for a couple of hours. You've been watching TV for a couple of hours and you want to switch the TV off by means of the remote control? Press the power off button and walk away. After perhaps 20 - 30 seconds the TV may switch off if the IR receiver detected the remote signal. If not, then press the remote button again and wait, or just switch off with the main power switch on the rear of the telly. With all of the glowing reviews for Avtex products, I expected better. So, you reckon they must have released new firmware to correct the foregoing problems? - Let's update over the air. It's a simple menu selection "Software Update (OAD)". Select that option and does anything happen - I haven't a clue because there's no progress indication or message confirming success or failure.Perhaps I have a duff unit, but all the advertised features appear to work after a fashion. Since initial purchase I've seen other comments about the Freesat EPG. If this a licensing issue it is a sad omission. Our £99 Humax mini satellite box had the Freeview EPG, so the cost of the licence can't be significant. The market has moved on in the last 12 months so the Avtex will soon be consigned to a bedroom for the rest of its days. Pity, it's such a good picture...

Great tv
Brought this tv fo4 motorhome. Seen man6 comments about sound quality. Must say on dtv channels sound is fine, but does drop a little when using catch-up services over wifi. Pricy for what it is, but does the job and we ar3 pleased with it.

works on 12v and 240v fit for purpose
for in the caravan this is perfect but needs the sound bar for good sound. Tv works great with firestick and also powers the firestick from the usb on the TV which is a big bonus as some TV's don't give enough power from the usb. Quite pricey but fit for purpose

Extremely Poor Sound Quality
This is our third Avtex 12 volt TV and the only one which has proved unfit for use. We were more than happy with the first two but decided to update to the latest model with the added features. In most ways the 21 inch SFVP is an improvement over our last 18'5" model. We are now able to store a greater number of channels from two different satellites via a single feed. Previously it was only possible to retain the first 100 channels from ASTRA 2 when moving the satellite dish to watch channels on ASTRA 1 which we often do. There are other improvements as well but there is one big let down - the sound. As well as the known issue of low sound levels and distortion if the volume is turned up. (See youtube videos, previous reviews etc.,) there is an even worse problem with the separate presets for Music, Movies etc. Theses settings produce absolutely awful sound quality often akin to a short band radio on the fringes of reception. The volume level of the music setting fades in and out making it unusable. The ‘standard’ mode is just about acceptable but is far inferior to my previous models. I have not yet tried adjusting any of the considerable number of sound settings in ‘user’ mode. I could send it back and see if it is just an issue with my particular set but I suspect I am listening to a system made with a faulty component. I have ordered the sound bar and will try it with that before deciding what my next step should be. In the meantime I am keeping my five year old Avtex 18.5” DRS which sounds so much better.UPDATE. The soundbar seems to work fine but the sound from the TV alone is still totally unacceptable. Playing anything with music behind the speech is painful to listen to. I have sent the set back but I will not let this one bad experience put me off Avtex which I still believe to be a good brand. Once my refund has been actioned I will probably buy another Avtex, albeit a different model. In the meantime I am still able to watch my 18.5 inch model which has good sound!FURTHER UPDATE. I have now purchased another new Avtex (the 249DSFVP 24")and the sound is a little better - but still distorted even at low volume levels.
