Extech MA410 True RMS 400A AC Clamp Meter with NCV Detector

I bought a used ma410 clamp meter from a pawn shop a few years ago. That one did everything I needed accurately, but it has been rolling around loose in a tool bag so it started to degrade. I bought this one to replace it and it even came with a soft case

This is a cheaply made meter When you take a reading it takes a while for the reading to settle down (it gradually goes up or down.) Also, when reading A/C volts you have to hit the "range" button to change it from DC to A/C volts. If you forget to and don't notice the tiny "DC" on the display you won't read any volts. If you failed to test the meter first on a known hot circuit you could get shocked or electrocuted. I know we should always do that, but if we never made mistakes electricians would never get injured that way. It happens. This meter increases that risk.

great tool, simple to use and my only complaint is that there is no backlight, but for the price can't complain.

Good meter for light use, didn't want to fork out lots for a fluke when all im working on is low voltage circuits up to 600, haven't used the clamp meter but I assume it works just fine, only thing I don't like is it always sets the voltage right back to DC when you turn it off and on, you have to select AC everytime which is a small small issue

Good price with lots of features.
