I chanced upon this Dell 3542 during a lightening deal at Amazon. The price was an unbelievable Rs18,990 (inclusive of a HDFC cashback and a gift card).It arrived within three days, in a sealed box, and in immaculate condition. The delivery boy was super courteous.The laptop comes with Ubuntu preinstalled, but no bag or drivers CD.Ubuntu itself is surprisingly pretty straightforward to use but even so I have updated it to Windows 10. The Windows 10 installation was a breeze from the Microsoft website and I did not face any driver issues. With Win 10, start-up takes around 10-15 seconds and the shutdown is even faster. But while working, there is a perceptible lag if all appearance enhancements (animation, shadow effects, etc) are on.The laptop itself is pretty basic, quality-wise. The plastics feel extremely cheap but well put together. i3 4th gen and 4 gb ram is enough for web browsing, viewing HD videos and downloading stuff. But anything more complex ' even opening more than 5-6 tabs in the browser makes the system appear a little short of breath. But at this price point you can hardly complain.All in all a brilliant deal and super service from Amazon.

The configuration of the laptop is good. According to me this is a nice laptop for home use only. Windows 7 is working properly.The Product delivered as per schedule. we have to register on the website of the dell for warranty claim. I am satisfied with performance of the laptop till now.

Thanks to Amazon for selling such a laptop at a great price.With all discounts applied got it for 23K. Great performance so far. Got it with an Ubuntu OS, but changed it Win 7 OS(Pirated). Works flawlessly. Battery Backup is great, Screen resolution is great, Got the tough looks and work well also. Great laptop at a great price. Kudos Amazon.

I have purchased a Dell laptop in Nov 2015 and the display has gone down after just 14 months.... now I have no ways left other than taking the dam stuff to private service center as the product is covering only one yr warranty.....it is out of ones imagination hw poor quality stuffs they are selling us ..... got fed-up with this

Great laptop for Home and Office use. It is slim and stylish and the matte black looks really good. Performs as expected. Giving good speed after installing Windows 8. Very minor lag or stutter. Good keyboard, avg. camera, premium look, good screen are few things worth mentioning.If you are a student who want to surf net, watch movies, work on MS Office, this a great choice. But if you are looking to play games or run heavy graphics programs I would recommend a laptop with atleast i5 processor. I gave it 4 stars because Lenovo's laptop is available with same specs plus 1TB HDD space on a better price, but it looks too heavy so I chose this one. And it is getting me by just FINE. Have a good one.

The software Ubuntu crashed the very same day and I had to get an Engineer to re load the software for me.The Bill was not signed and the Warranty date did not match the Purchase Date.The Invoice does not include the Product Code which is required by Dell to make changes in the Warranty period.There is no contact number provided even on the Bill where I can contact the vendor.Dell confirmed there was no hardware issue and does not offer support for Ubuntu software issues.The PC is working fine no issue with the Hardware. But the rating is more for the Vendor not offering any Service option.
