Soon to be classic!
Just got my copy of Life of Zarf for my kids and I'm having as much fun reading it as they are. Harrell delivers another book where he shows both his writing humor and his artistic talents. While not as art heavy as his Monsters on the Hill graphic novel (which is amazing!), Zarf brings his writing skills to another level. Like a great Pixar movie, this book has something for the 9 year old in our house, as well as the 13 year old and the 45 year old. From the funny chapter titles to the ability to bring the awkwardness of middle school to life, this book will be my "Go To" Christmas present for the nieces and nephews in my family this year. Congrats on a soon to be classic and can't wait for the (hopefully) next in the Zarf series.

Fun story that definitely tells a boys, less flattering, side of the fairy tale world
A really fun story. Engaging and quick but my son is a little young for it. He's seven and reads well but didnt particulary enjoy all the barf, gas, and other "boy" gross type of comments and silliness. I imagine at some point he will, and it is well written and was not offensive to me at all. A few spots were cringe worthy but all in good fun. Over all a great boys version of the diary type books. Lots of illustrations and a quick moving story. It was well done and I'm hanging on to it for later when my boy is a little bigger.

I read it and liked it a lot
I read it and liked it a lot. I've been a Rob Harrell fan since earlier this week, so when I saw this book was for sale I snapped it up. The art is wonderful and the characters will make you laugh and smile and then laugh again. And if you're like me you'll find yourself in a hot bath with the Four Non-Blondes music turned way up and you let the water rush over your body and you'll read this book over and over and finally you'll see all the magic in life and that you were not wrong for believing that someone could touch your sole again even after all the times you been hurt.

Good stuff!
Excellent book. The occasional illustration make it fun and less intimidating for reluctant readers. I gave it as a gift to a friend's 12 year old son. My friend reported that it caused her son to initiate a conversation with her about the pecking-order that kids establish in school and how that probably wasn't fair or right.I got a kick out of the continuing story of the 3 little pigs family.
