Q: The x5 is discontinued by fiskars. Are they still honoring warranty claims?

As far as I know yes. It is still sold in Europe, but not in the USA.

Q: Why is the price of this hatchet double the price of the larges sized ones? Doesnt make sense.

It,s shipping from Germany. You're paying their price. I can't find the x5 or the x10 in the US,my favorite sizes. I think these might only be distributed in Europe. I had to order these from Amazon UK and Amazon DE

Probably tooling costs. Its a low production item. If they need special tooling and molding to make it, then a lot of that cost gets passed down to fewer customers, thus driving up the price. Its known as economies of scale.

It’s a small hatchet not a knife so no tang. It has a hollow, plastic handle.
