How is the joy to see your son making is own volcano and enjoying it
The National Geographic Ultimate Volcano Kit has been a fantastic educational experience for my son and me! We had so much fun learning about volcanoes while creating our very own erupting volcanoes at home. This kit is a perfect combination of science and fun. It includes everything you need to create an erupting volcano, which helped my children understand how volcanoes work in a really engaging way. The instructions are clear, and the process is easy to follow, even for younger kids.Quality Materials: The materials included (like plaster, baking soda, and a safe, non-toxic volcano mold) are high-quality and make the entire experiment feel like a mini science project. The volcano is sturdy and can withstand multiple eruptions.Educational Content: The kit includes a small booklet with fun facts about volcanoes, how they form, and how eruptions occur. It’s educational without being too complicated, and my kids loved learning about real-life volcanoes.

Educational and Fun, but Be Prepared for a Mess!
I bought the National Geographic Volcano Making Kit for my daughter, and she absolutely loved it! The instructions were clear, and it was exciting to watch her engage with the science behind volcanic eruptions. The kit is both fun and educational, making it a great choice for kids who enjoy hands-on activities. That said, be sure to put the volcano on a baking sheet or other surface that’s easy to clean. The eruption process can get a little messy, with colored “lava” spilling over the sides. We didn’t think of this initially and had a bit of a cleanup on our hands. Lesson learned!Overall, I highly recommend this kit for kids—it’s a fantastic way to spark curiosity about science and geology. Just plan ahead for the mess, and you’ll have a blast!

Great product, but I don't recommend using the pop crystals.
My 4-year-old and I had a lot of fun making this. Besides teaching him about volcanoes, it also helped instill patience, waiting for the volcano to dry, then painting and waiting again. The only downside was that when we used the pop crystals, the paint started to peel off. Otherwise, it's a great product. The photo is after we used the pop crystals.

Fun but...
I give this five stars, because it is a lot of fun, but there are some things you should be aware of. You will have to help your kid with this project. This is not something that young kids can do independently. The first of which is the kit comes with powdered plaster and a mold and you have to make the volcano so it is time consuming and there is a little bit of a mess Factor. Additionally, once you've made the mold and painted it, and you're ready to set off your volcano, the volcano lava does stain. Stain. We did our eruption in the street in front of our house and it looked like a small animal had been run over because there was a big red stain in the asphalt. It was there for a couple months already before it finally faded away. Last thing you should know is when you do your eruption, the lava will cause the paint to run a little and fade a lot. Other than that, it's exactly like you would imagine. It was a lot of fun for the kids, it comes with a little information booklet thing that tells you all about volcanoes. So well the mold is setting or the paint is drying. You have some reading material to get them hyped up about the big volcano eruption. As long as you're aware of those things and know what you're getting into, I would definitely recommend this item.

A Hit!
Bought this for my 6 year old nephew. He love science experiments. This was a hit. He had fun making the mold as well as painting it. The best part was the volcano erupting. We were able to experience the erupting a few times with the amount of eruption powder that was included. Great value. Instructions were easy to follow. Kit contained everything you need for this experience.

Doesn’t make a cane corso sick 😅
The directions are okay… learn from my adult experiences below…Granted this is for older children - yes?I got it for my 3 year old who loves “hot lava” know that I would help him. We created said volcano at 5 am without caffeine intake.. that alone was TERRIBLE..the instructions say to mix with 1 cup of water (plaster) but is there a specific thick water that I don’t know about? I even let it sit for quite a while prior to attempting to fill the cone & base.. but it leaked everywhere… & let me tell you the mess that created at FIVE IN THE MORNING!Anyways, we got 3/4 of a volcano 😅, then had to paint said volcano at 8 am.. now that’s another joyful mess with a 3 year old…. The morning fun just kept continuing. The memory though, was great! We painted it & it was beautiful! Then we let it dry (for about 1 hour because again… toddler time…)Then we went outside in the driveway, because my Crosswave can only handle so much.. and so can my mental health..we did the lava, he then played in it. Lots of laughter, fun, stains, just a good time! Now let’s talk about the dog eating it.. I have a cane corso. He’s.. well… a male.. & listens like one 🤷🏻♀️ we are still in the training period at a year old (us women know it takes at least 5 years 😅 before they can take the trash out when asked after 10 times instead of 20), but the next day, he ate half of it…. Of course I got a little nervous at this point; but he never threw up, never acted weird or had any issues! So great time again! The performative measures taken to ensure animal safety is above par.
