What if I put the light on a curved, ergonomic surface? Would it still work? Or does it have to be flat?

From my experience, it would have to be flat. When I used mine on a pvc surface that was slightly bubbly, it didn't register anything in those areass.

You may be in mouse mode. If the display is bright, you are typing, if it’s dim you are moving the mouse. I believe there is a key you tap on the keyboard to toggle between the two.
