It works great. Nothing is malfunctioning. The sides do not get burnt. Easy to empty and clean. I have had it for a couple months and the light is still working. Sleek design too. I bought this for my home to help eliminate odor and it does just that. The open slot in the back is small so not a lot of extinguishing smoke escapes.Update December 2021:This is the second time buying this product. My first ashtray is still functioning perfectly! I bought a second one for my car. I bought it in all black this time (the first time I purchased the black and gray). It is still a sleek design. Everything is functioning. However, on the first ashtray, this next statement will be the third update on this feature: the light did finally stop working, but truthfully I’m not worried about the light not working. If you are expecting a very long life span for ashtray lights, that is something I have never had happen on any ashtrays I have owned. The lights just aren’t meant to last forever. :) So I would not let this downfall sway your buying decision.

Update: 1/2024- the first purchased in 2021 lasted 2+ years (maybe would’ve lasted longer if it hadn’t been stolen).. second purchased in 2023 lasted a year. Taking a chance on a 3rd because I do like the quality of this product!This ashtray in my SUV is perfect! The quality is the best I’ve had out of many. It is medium weight (body is metal), lid is heavy plastic. The size is not too big, not too small.. just right! Easy to empty- easy to clean! Big plus that the bottom unscrews & empty from there! (Try emptying other ashtrays from the top- been there, done that.) Washing is a breeze too because of the bottom lid access. The little light is great also- it’s not too bright & distracting at night. Of course it does not keep your car odor free but does work better than any others I have tried. I did read all reviews before my purchase & don’t agree with a lot of the negatives. Needs emptying maybe once a week (unless you’re a chain smoker & live in your car). Don’t know how long the light will last. I have had it for 5 months now & completely happy with my purchase.

I bought this in 2022, and up until now it's been great and worked exactly as described. However, after 3 years, I was surprised to go into my car and find smoke billowing from it. It was about 2/3 full, and I didn't realize that with years of use, it no longer sealed properly (cutting off oxygen to the cigarette) and had started a small fire. Like I said, the product worked great up until then, but users, please be mindful to check that your cigarettes are fully extinguished before leaving your car.

I’ve used this thing a lot since my purchase and the pivot point still keeps the lid in place just fine.The only negative thing I have to say about it is that the rubber circle on the bottom for grip doesn’t really protrude beyond the plastic so it cant do much to prevent the thing from sliding aroundAlso I’d like to be able to switch off that blue light, it has been convenient at times like if I’m driving at night but when I’m actually using it for cigarettes I like to leave the lid open, and the blue led can be distracting

Snaps closed tightly so butts don’t smolder. Unless you let it get ridiculously full. This is my second one and the first one lasted years before the lid became warped just enough to not close tightly. I appreciate the blue light in a dark car so you can see what you’re aiming for.

This ashtray is great! Unscrews from the bottom for easy cleaning. Seal is good.
