Almost Completely Useless
I purchased this product because I am dealing with some digestive issues that are indicative of intolerances. The test is easy to use because you just put some hair in a small sample bag and send it off. But the results I got back are pretty useless. It claimed I have 24 severe food intolerances and 140 moderate intolerances. The 24 severe food items are items I almost never consume, while the 140 severe food items incorporated almost EVERYTHING. The results leave me with absolutely no direction on what I should maybe change or work to remove from my diet. I am going to have to purchase another test from another company to get the results I need. I have friends that have used other brands that have been able to make lifestyle changes that have improved their lives considerably based on the results they received. I cannot say that about this product. Do not buy it unless you want to spend 60-70 dollars on something that doesn’t really provide you with the information needed to make changes.

Has truly helped
Ok so bear with me on this review. But for starters this has truly helped when doctors have not. Back in December my eyes started watering in January they turned red and irritated. I thought infected. See a Telehealth doctor who says it’s allergies but prescribed eye antibiotics, which helped for a couple of days then kept getting irritated. I go to an allergy doctor who does an environmental skin test but no food allergy testing and I have anaphylaxis. I am put on antihistamines oral and eyedrops. That didn’t help. I go to TWO eye doctors who both say allergies and prescribe steroid eye drops. That helps a little but my eyes continue to get more and more irritated til they are red, red red and have like a haze over them.So one eye doctor said do your homework and try to figure out what you are allergic to. So I just start changing what I eat thinking it was what a lot of people may be allergic to. Well that did not work. So I finally turn to Amazon and find this Intolerance test. I get my results and it said severe intolerance to Potato, which I had eaten that very day and my eyes started flaring up worse. So I was like well that must be accurate. So I try to eliminate my severe and moderate foods, which come to find out I was eating moderate foods for breakfast, lunch dinner and snacks (oatmeal, eggs, hazelnut, Monterey Jack cheese, mozarella, tomatoes, Greek yogurt, and cashews) like literally EVERYTHING I was eating to be healthy. So since 5 days ago I have stopped the moderate and severe, unless I am unaware of them and my eyes are better. Still watery and pink but not infected looking red. So since 6 (yes six) doctors aren’t helping and telling me to do my homework or they don’t know what else to do, I am thankful for this as a starting point. But like Ucari points out it does not test for allergies. Because it had I had normal tolerance for ragweed which caused anaphylaxis when allergy testing. So know that. But my reason for 4 stars is some things on list seem contradictory. Like it had I was intolerant to coconut water but not coconut milk, or coconut. But, since it noted coconut water I am eliminating all coconut because I was drinking coconut milk in coffee. It had severe intolerance to garlic but had normal tolerance to garlic powder. So I am trying to avoid garlic… which is quite difficult. However there are some intolerances noted that were confirmed from past experiences. Example I was eating a lot of items with tomatoes and started itching all over… realized it was tomatoes…all that said to say I believe it has very beneficial information, but since some items are contradictory I am just giving four stars…. But if you are like me and desperate for answers may want to give it a try to at least get a starting point, annnd this helped because no one has even considered food allergy testing for me…. Hope this review helps you to decide if the testing is right for you.

Interesting but not life-changing
I wanted to share some specifics I was hoping to see when I was deciding whether to buy this.As others mentioned, it's super easy - comb through hair and collect enough strands, place in the bag and stick in the mailbox. Results were very quick once they received it (I mailed it in before the holiday weekend so understandably that added a few days). The report is also easy to understand - items are characterized as red (severe), yellow or green. Also, there's a "nutritional imbalances" category but I didn't have anything listed there (guess that's good news). If you read the description, you will understand this is different from allergies and I don't have any known allergens/ haven't had any other similar tests done. So I have no way to speak to the accuracy of this BUT here are a few examples. There were 13 severe items on my report and the majority are things I don't consume regularly anyway. That was disappointing because I definitely experience upset stomach regularly but have had trouble figuring out what foods might be causing that. This didn't get me much closer to understanding that. Several of mine were chemical type ingredients often found in processed foods. Also some interesting nuances here...-"cola" = severe but "cherry cola" is normal. I don't drink either, but that seems odd.-red lentils = severe; all other color lentils = normal (no details given on why)-granulated sugar = severe but cane sugar is normal. I didn't even know the difference between these so had to look that up. Am I going to ask my local donut shop if they use granulated sugar or cane sugar? My moderate / yellow category included around 100 items. Some are things I eat regularly (avocado) and some are not. It recommends eating these items in moderation, which I think most of us do anyway? Unless it's something you are consistently having every single day, not sure I would change my behavior on the yellow category. This kit is reasonably priced, so I think it's worth trying if you're ok with maybe learning something helpful, maybe not. I wouldn't go into it expecting life-changing type results.
