Q: I have a 3dp-03 and have bought this senor. is there an adaptor i need to print to mount it ? and where do i get the correct firmware to use with it?

It comes with a right angle mount which fits the Y axis bearing blocks on mine , online there are several mounting blocks which can be printed, I found mine worked well for several prints then began to become somewhat unreliable and crashed into the board ... good luck

Yes, it can detect metal material through painters tape.

Q: Will this sensor work if i have a glass sheet over my aluminum heated bed?

Yes, you can use it witl a glass plate but it detects the aluminum bed below the glass, including any warping. You can use aluminum foil duct sealing tape (the premium shiny aluminum type with red writing) and carefully apply it to the back of the glass sheet to sense the flat glass instead of the warped aluminum sheet (if it's warped like mine). If you go that route, use two layers to cover the gaps between the strips and be careful to get all the air bubbles out of the tape.. Previous answer is correct. It detects metal, not glass or plastic, like PEI.
