RCBS X-Die Small Base Die Set, .308 Win

I have 2 other name brand quality .308 Winchester resizing dies but was still getting some brass that wasn't passing the test on my case gauge, mainly with military brass like Lake City. I determine I probable needed a small base die, which only is available in a limited number of brands of dies. I chose the RCBS die set and it has eliminated about 98% of the rejects that I was experiencing before. I haven't used it enough to make a judgement on if it helps keep from having to trim your case as frequently.

After you size your brass for the first time you trim it to 0.020 less than normal case length. You never have to trim or debur your cases again after that. I did get a case stuck in the sizing die, it was my fault not the die, and broke the decapping pin. I called RCBS to get a part number so I could order a new one and the sent me a new mandrel and 5 decapping pins for free. This is a great product from a great company. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

The die was working great until somewhere around 850 cases of LC brass once fired the case neck expander ball pulled off and striped the threads on the Expander-decapping Rod. Not sure if the expander ball still has good threads. I am not using it to decap the primers. They were removed with a decap die .27-.45 cal. heavy duty. Do not know if it was bad threads or improper heat treatment.

Tried the x-die and it does what it says it will do, it keeps the brass from getting longer. The RCBS X-die saves a lot of time when reloading. I would recommend this to anyone reloading rifle rounds.

These are the best 308 Caliber Dies I've used. They are the ones I go to if I have to load for my Semi auto 308. The Lee dies just don't do that.
