Dome Tent - 3 Person

I've used it enough to get scuffed and dirty and it still holds up well. It's light, sets up nice, disassembles quick, and it's held together.

Started bringing GF along on backpack camping trips and needed more room, while still keeping weight and price in check...this tent fit well.On prior outing with (her) 2p pup/A-frame tent, me, GF, and my mid-sized dog slept in the tent while our gear stayed outside under a tarp...and it was still tight. It rained, we got wet, and froze...ugh. We should have taken my 2p tent, but she "liked hers better". :(So I bought this. 7x7'(nominal I suppose), 5.6 lbs (lt 3lbs/person), and if you strap the poles to the pack, you can fold the tent into a 12x10x6" cube for inside the pack.Pros:Roomy...me, GF, (and now) two mid-sized dogs, and two backpacks fit inside. No spare floor space but definitely roomier that the 2p tents, even with the addtl. dog and packs.Clip on pole attachments...definitely better than sliding the poles in/out the "tent tubes".Fiberglass poles...sure they're not aluminum, but they are thick/solid..seem durable enough.The tent material. The inside of the tent is thinly lined with a rubbery coating. This makes the tent material seem a little thicker, more durable than most cheaper nylon tents...similar what I've seen in more expensive tents.The seams are taped. I haven't rain tested it yet, but this and the interior coating makes me think that this will hold up to a decent rain. Plus, I've learned to waterproof all new tents. So my tent has also received a waterproofing treatment, both inside and out. So I can't fully speak to the permeability of the tent, but it seems better than comparable others.Breathable...75 deg day, 40 deg night...four life forms...minimal condensation, never noticed any "stuffiness" (given one night observed). Also with the door panels closed it was about 5 deg warmer in the tent.Guy lines for the rain fly...nice touch for added stability.Cons:No reinforcement on the attachment points. Nothing of concern now, but the seams seem a little strained at these points.The mesh zips at the bottom, but the door flaps just attach horizontally by velcro (both zip vertically)...horizontal zippers for the door flaps would be nice.The tent I received is light grey, black bathtub floor (unlike listing photo), and a blue rain fly with orange trim. Sure it's not "ultralight"(ultraexpensive) but it's a great tent for the price.

Too early to tell about durability and water resistance, etc., but after setting it up in my living room I will make a few initial observations.First, I weighed the tent and it weighs 5.5 lbs. A little heavier than I had hoped, but tolerable.I rolled up the tent and fly together and they roll up pretty small and compact (about 6" x 12" uncompressed). For my needs that helps offset the weight. I can transport the poles separately on our tandem bike.The tent is super quick and easy to set up thanks to the clips that attach the tent to the poles (instead of the typical cloth sheeths). It's actually a pleasure instead of a pain to set up.Inside the tent is not near 7 x 7 feet, but more like 6' 6-8" square. I am 5' 8" and this is just barely long enough for me without touching the ends too much. This might be a problem for taller people. My wife is 5' 2" and she thinks the tent is huge! (What does she know?) Being square there is a lot of room between our two single air mattresses for storage and moving around. The height is right at 48" in the center. Plenty of sitting up headroom.Mine came with a little net loft (about 10 x 10 inches) that attaches in the center overhead to hold whatever. Also there is a pocket for small items near the bottom on one side. There are several other tie strings where other things could be hung.The v-shaped door is very large, and for my wife and I it will serve as a double door for getting up in the middle of the night without trampling on one another. (Much more practical than those D-shaped doors in my opinion.) There seems to be plenty of ventilation in the roof, so hopefully it won't sweat to bad. There are no other windows in the sides.The side material is very thin and coated for UV/water proofing/protection. Seems to be made well enough. I imagine this tent would stand off mild showers, but probably not major downpours. We'll see! The bottom looks and feels like typical tarp-type material that is standard in most tents these days.The tent came with 6 wire-type stakes. Mine is gray with blue rain fly like the pictures.This is not the perfect tent by any means, but for under $40 it seems like about the best option for tents in this class.

I am very happy with this little tent! I was a Boy Scout for years and camped out a lot. When my daughters were young we camped out as part of the YMCA Indian Guides/Indian Princesses. I have had experience with a number of different types of tents. This is the easiest to set up of any I have used. It fits two pretty comfortably. Three could squeeze in, but there would be little room left for gear. The floor is made of the woven plastic tarp material. I suppose theoretically this means you do not need a footprint/ground cloth, but I use one anyway.The instructions for setup are pretty clear, but we have developed a slightly different approach. We lay out the tent, piece the poles together, and stick them in the little pockets at the corners, forming an X over the tent. I then tie the nylon ties to the poles to hold the X in place while we clip the plastic clips to the poles. Setting up this way takes literally a couple of minutes. Once set up this way, staking the corners is more or less optional. I do stick the stakes in just to keep the tent from sliding around on the ground cloth.For the price, if you are just getting started in camping for two people, maybe three, this is a great tent for the money. Even with the rain fly I am not sure I would want to be in a rainstorm with it, but I am a fair weather camper anyway. I have been on several campouts in the past where we endured downpours, and I choose to no longer participate if I can avoid it!

I’d say a 4.6 ⭐️, but that’s not an option, so I’ll give the 5.It’s a great travel companion. I used it for a 3.5 week motorcycle trip across eastern Canada’s coast line (highly recommend trip). I only had to use the tent 6-7 night along the way, as I had lots of family to stay with, but it held up pretty great for those few days.Pros:-Small-Light-Fits back in the bag without a problem-Only has 2 poles (lighter and easier set up)-It fit me (5’10” 220 lbs, my bags, single air mattress (6” thick), and lots of motorcycle gear (helmet, jacket pants rain gear) no problem-Was pretty dry inside in most light rain 🌧-has a little hammock in the top that is great to put a light on, and store stuff. It’s where I kept my phone in case the floor got wet.-SUPPER EASY TO SET UP AND TAKE DOWN. No sliding poles through the fabric loops/tubes. You just put the pole ends in the corner pockets and clip the clips on. Then peg it down, and put the rain tarp on (if you might see rain) and your done. 5 min up and 5 min down (even with me whiping down the bottom before putting it away)Cons:-I am 5’10” and even with a 7 foot base I had to turn my air mattress on a 45 degree angle (corner to corner) so my feet or pillow would not touch the sides. NOTE: my air mattress is 6” thick, but it would be tight with more than 1 person in this tent. I think this is because it is only 48” tall the wall angle is a little drastic for a thick mattress. Thin mats would work better, keeping you lower. It would probable be good for 2 with smaller mats.-I had one night in Trout River Newfoundland Provincial Park where it rained 30+mm, I had to set up and take down in the rain. There was hurricane warnings I think. Crazy windy, crazy rainy. The tent was holding up really well, but eventually the wind popped a pole out in the middle of the night and the rain started to come through every seam where there was anything pulling on it (poles, pegs, even the door flap loops), due to the slackness there was a drop here and there running down the seams. But all my gear got a little wet with the pooling. I’m sure the tent would be fine under normal cercomestances, but I thought it was worth mentioning.-the only improvement(s) I can think of really are door related, a second door or window on the back for improved air flow, and maybe a “D” style door so it would give more screen when open and the door would stay in the securing loops a little better.Now I do have to finish with, This is the best 3 man tent I’ve ever owned! Was pretty good for the price and was delivered quickly.ProsWas much cheaper compared to other 3 person tents I was looking at.Overall was good and kept us fairly warm from wind.Could fit 2 adults with some bags/equipment quite comfortably.Packaging is small, so doesn't take much space.Straightforward to set up if following instructions or you've camped before.Putting it away it the same as setup just in reverse order.Cons3 people would be pushing it for the actual size of the tent.Even during a really hot day the tent takes a while to dry out if there's lots of morning dew or a slight rain.
